Come on retard, we have grade-reading level specifications for literacy here in the US. Functionally illiterate means you operate somewhere LOWER than 12th grade reading level as an adult. Meaning you cannot understand what you are reading - depending on what level you have sunk to. So while you might not be completely illiterate (as to be unable to read any writing at all), just functionally because you have a limited understanding of what you read.

I kind of remember enjoying the first half of this book, I hate read the second half. There are levels of literacy. When someone has the literacy of a child, they read Crime & Punishment and see just a bunch of funny characters doing eccentric things with meaningless violence. When an adult with high literacy reads the same, they can infer the meaning behind the character's actions, their unspoken motivations, and how the historical context of the book contributes to same. Of course, I could go on, but you have the literacy of a retarded child, so I'd be shocked if you've read this far.
