>I paid all those houses with all my effort
Why are boomers always saying this? Before a house would cost like 50k, these days it costs 250k minimum, so you need to make 5 times more effort for ONE house, and older on top of that since boomers told their kids to waste years in college

Most cannot use a computer past the on/off button, and get their (((news))) from the poisoned well troika of mendacity... You cannot expect them to understands graphs, read trends, or to know what the current going rate of shit is relative to wages.

It's human nature to overestimate the significance of your own involvement in something.

In my area the average starter house was built from about 1960-1980. This group of houses were tax assessed for about $80k-120k up until around 2021. These were the same starter houses the boomers purchased in the 70s and 80s for $40k-60k. It made sense. Things were working correctly. I got a great deal on a house in 2016. Now 4 years later this group of houses list for $130k-180k. They're real rundown because you don't have to put work in them to sell them. Everyone who owned before 2020 doubled their equity, essentially. And a bunch of these rundown, formerly starter homes are being rented out, so neighborhoods are becoming less stable, more students and immigrant families, blacks can now afford these neighborhoods. So things are getting more expensive while the community is becoming fragmented. PPP loans and all that money that got pumped during covid is what ruined housing.
