The problem with building in past styles is that we've lost so much of the cultural knowledge and physical industry that was critical to making them work. That's why so many retro buildings look wrong. The architects don't know the proper proportions and what goes where, and instead of master craftsmen, you've got cheapo mass-manufactured materials assembled by Mexicans.
