What are NATO's war plans?
if your enemy has a million FPV drones + other loitering munitions, then realistically - what can a division of NATO tanks do to survive for longer than 5 minutes?

I'd post this question on /k/, but they'd have a collective meltdown

Yes, the side who get exhausted faster lose, end of case, it is a pure attritional warfare, the entire NATO air force can't cover the massive air space of Russia and even less their land forces, consequently conscription will be necessary not only for this but to replace the massiva loses that will come from that, besides of course the material, will be interesting to see europeans and muttmericans losing their gibs and welfare because mas mobilization and limited resources of a war economy.

>Not much to do after wiping most enemy logistics and strongpoints
there's a lot of logistics to wipe, considering Russia's the biggest country on the planet.

The issue with the "air superiority" argument is that:
>planes have limited range
>they need airfields to operate, or aircraft carriers
>russia has the capabilities to maintain offensive potential outside of the range of NATO jets
>russia has the capabilities to strike all airfields around europe using missiles
>russia has enough air-defence capabilities to down hundreds of jets
no need for nooks here

I think you can read all about it, they developed them in the '60s and it was all about defending the Fulda Gap with a big tank and helicopter battle with air support and etc. and blah blah and if they failed they'd blow the whole area sky high with nuclear land mines and tactical nukes.

They pretty much stuck with this until the fall of the Soviet Union, then after that the focus turned to spending even more money on whatever they wanted but especially with an eye to mass surveillance of their own NATO home country populations, also irritating Russia by stirriung up all kinds of trouble.

Poland is the definition of "we wuz kangs" civilisation. If you talk to average middle-class polak, all of them nonstop shill about their "aristocratic roots" and show off their family coat of arms. The funny bit is that most of Polish aristocracy is historically made-up. But they continue to insist on their claim to power over Eastern Europe.

Now utilising EU tax money and US geopolitical needs, to build up the biggest army in Europe for obvious reasons. We all know how it will end.

>Significance of Trucks: The U.S. delivered over 400,000 trucks to the USSR, while Soviet factories produced less than 200,000 during the same period. These trucks, particularly the Studebaker US6, were used extensively for logistics and even as platforms for Katyusha rocket launchers, providing the Red Army with a mobility it otherwise would have lacked for its major offensives from 1943 onwards.

Air superiority which was always a bit suspect as it assumed massive incompetence and inability on the part of the enemy
High mobility which doesn't work when the enemy is throwing landmines everywhere and you're not fighting over large arid wastelands where you don't have to worry about your tanks sinking into the mud
Surprise attacks which aren't really possible when everyone is throwing all kinds of sensors around like confetti. Meaning you're in such a sensor saturated environment you know if your enemy farted before the guys in the same trench as him.

Ukraine does barely any damage to oil refineries with their single-drone strikes, and it's easy to repair. That's why Zelensky is begging for Tomahawks. But the US doesn't budge because it understands that supplying (let alone launching them) risks nuclear war.

As things stand today, Russia is extremely comfortable with regard to fuel. Most western countries continue to purchase Russian oil and gas, using crypto and shadow fleets. Ukraine has already proven that NATO doesn't even really need tanks to defeat Russia. Russia's weakness is now exposed for the world to see. They simply do not have the manpower, equipment, infrastructure, or logistics to adequately defend the vast amount of territory and viable targets inside their own borders. All we need to do is a ramped-up version of what Ukraine is already doing. Just rain down missiles night and day on oil depots, refineries, electrical stations, railway and road junctions, and anything else the Russians can't physically defend. If you have no oil, no gas, and no electricity, it really doesn't matter what you have in your military arsenal. It might as well be scrap metal.

Load canister shot. Pintle mount shotgun. Countermeasures to drones are already being made, and basically a tank can have stuff slapped onto it and can act as a mobile anti-drone platform, while deploying drones of its own.

Russia would lose a war to NATO because NATO is geographically much larger and population-wise much larger, and the world's oceans are much better highways than traversing Eurasia.
How is Russia going to reach Africa, South America, or Indo-China? The US can reach of all those by sea and NATO has countries in all of those regions.

Not really. NATO focuses on excellent battlefield awareness, superior command and control, precise counter battery fire/ artillery suppression, logistics disruption alongside combined arms tactics and total air superiority. Drones are relevant, but not of the same importance, since the surveillance and suppression of anything close by would be much quicker. Basically the same reason why Ukraine is performing much better with western jets. Drones need infrastructure, bases, logistics, reconnaissance, command and controllers. Against NATO the survivability even 50 to 100 km behind the zero line would be too low to even reach any significant amount of drone saturation. Hence it would make a difference, but not be the same. You can also clearly see that drones got more relevant in this particular war once the frontlines stabilized. There are different types of enemies, territories and phases of wars.

What's the range of a drone? What is its ceiling? What kind of munitions can it carry? What kind of ECCM does it need to penetrate into the battlespace? How does that compare to an aircraft?
Drone technology has its uses in an integrated support role, but those nations that lean on it heavily are poor and need the comparative economic advantage that cheaper drones provide. i.e., trading your 100k long range drone for a million dollar ground based interceptor isn't going to matter against a country that can steamroll you in a month.

russia's inability to gain absolute air superiority early in the war is part of what doomed them to stagnation
russia does have good air defense and EW jamming systems that can help them, but it wont get far against the full might of the entire nato air force.
>High mobility which doesn't work when the enemy is throwing landmines everywhere and you're not fighting over large arid wastelands where you don't have to worry about your tanks sinking into the mud
the mobility comes into play before these landmines can be put down, or past where the landmines are concentrated. you are right that the thick minefields in ukraine are a serious challenge.
the arid landscape point is a meme, armies have been operating in and around mud for millennia, nato can manage it.

It likely was closer to 65 to 70 percent. But even than the relevant stuff happened mostly in Germany and other Western European regions. Plus southern Europe and Africa to a lesser degree. Ultimately the air battle above Germany and the attacks on the industrial capabilities were more relevant than the Russian troops. If the fuel and the industrial capabilities would have been there the Russian troops would have been crushed.
