But by 1707, Aurangzebs death, Mughal rulers were basically just puppets of various rulers like Marathas under Shivaji and Peshwas, and others.
By 1720s, Marathas kept the mughals on as nominal rulers, until finally the Marathas themselves capitulated to the British in 1818. The British kept on nominal mughal rulers too, until finally they got too tired of that shit and just forcefully removed the mughal title in 1857
