How does a double cheeseburger even cost that much?
The meat is about $1.00
Every thing else is about $1.00
So they have $2 in material cost.
I can make one myself for about $3 and it will taste better than the McDonald's version.

In the west the economy fails, unless prices persistently increase. So they'll never go back down, and they were particularly greedy with the increase over the past 5-10 years. So you're waiting for the growth of your salary to catch up now at a faster pace than their yearly increase, which it will never do of course.

Alternatively, you can put them out of business, if you can, which some are, whether they like it or not.

You'd need a big recession, and a government wiling to go through it without quantitative easing. That would force them to remove money from the market, which would cause deflation.

I don't get how they keep the lights on, because I'm on the road a lot and even gas station food has become a much better option. Decent stuff like Maverick's burritos are $5, have 700 or more calories, and it's actually fast to get one. If any of the usual fast food places could get a sandwich in my hand in 3 minutes or less, I might be able to overlook the price, but it's about 10 minutes average now to get my order. I can't believe how the entire industry seemingly stopped giving a single fuck almost overnight.

Gross. If you arent going to buy groceries, just order food from restaurants and pick it up. Takes basically the exact same amount of time, you get better options and quality, and the prices are usually better all things considered.

In 2013 you could get mcdoubles and mcchickens for $1 each. Not sure when it initially went up because I stopped eating mcgarbage around that time for about a decade, but dont let anyone tell you that things are so much easier for your generation. You guys may be weak, lazy, and morally decrepit.. but its not really your fault, you were thrown into a world which evolved faster than human nature, designed to exploit and magnify the worst aspects of your monkey brains.. and the generations which had already made it generally arent able to appreciate the struggle to stop being a lazy shit when you are depressed, hopeless, and wired from your formative years to be vain, pitiful, lazy, parasites.
