What was part of the plan is the inevitable expansion of NATO following this invasion, proving they never gave a shit about that excuse to begin with. It's always been nothing more than a land grab in service of Putin's boomer nostalgia for the Soviet Empire. The Russian flag GRU shills here are a tiny minority and do not represent Russian opinion. Normal Russians, many of whom have relatives in Ukraine, are probably secretly hoping NATO liberates them from their little goblin dictator.
