All else being equal, monthly rent payments are typically the same or more than the monthly mortgage payment would be on the same house. How do you think landlords make money?
And again, the mortgage payment will still be $2450 50 years from now, but the rent will increase by ~3% every year.
There is NO financial benefit to renting, unless you know you are only going to be in an area for a year or two before moving. Otherwise, it almost always makes more sense to get a mortgage.

1. Make it illegal for non-citizens and private equity firms to own property. (Alternatively, you could make property tax so extremely high for non-citizens and private equity firms that it would no longer be a good investment.)

2. Instead of rounding up illegals one by one and throwing them in vans in front of a camera crew for the normies viewing enjoyment, start doing that to some high profile employers and landlords of illegals. Put them in prison for a very long time so other employers and landlords will stop employing and renting to illegals. The major issue is permissions.
You can't just build something on your land; you have to have a lot of permission, depending on where you live. Every one of those permissions costs a small fortune nowadays.
Some places have loopholes that allow you to "park" on your land for indeterminate periods of time, so you just put wheels on your home and boom, you are compliant with the law (the sewage is another story).
