>[AJPW] Jun Saito Fed Up with Hideki Suzuki’s Verbal Attacks: “The Guy’s Just Too Much—That’s All I Can Say”

>All Japan Pro Wrestling’s Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion Jun Saito (38) is feeling thrown off his rhythm ahead of his fifth title defense against the “most eccentric man in the ring,” Hideki Suzuki (45), set for June 18 at Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall.

>On June 9, Jun and Suzuki appeared together at a press conference in Tokyo.
>Jun declared his determination: “I will *definitely* defend. Jun Saito never stops. Hideki Suzuki—DOOM.”
>Then, switching gears, he added, “On a personal note, today, June 9, marks exactly four years since my debut—so I’m celebrating.”
>He pulled a kusa mochi (mugwort rice cake) from his pocket and began munching away.

>Jun’s trademark “press conference snack time” has become a familiar sight.
>But Suzuki jabbed: “Four years? That’s kind of a weird milestone.”
>Jun ignored him, then pulled out a tiramisu and continued eating while the Q&A began—only for Suzuki to cut in:
>“Nope. We’re not doing Q&A until you’re done eating. Talking with your mouth full is rude. Finish your food first. If a manners coach saw this, they’d be furious.”
>And so, the entire room was made to silently watch Jun’s munch session.

>Then Suzuki added, “I like sweets too, but I mostly stick to eclairs. If you *really* love sweets, you commit to one. Sampling a bunch? That’s cheating, if you ask me.”

>After finishing his tiramisu, Jun shot back: “Anyone who loves sweets eats *all* kinds. I mean, I love red bean paste the most.”

>Still clearly thrown off, Jun couldn’t keep the flow of the presser on his usual terms.
>“Well… it *is* Hideki Suzuki sitting next to me, so I guess this kind of thing was bound to happen.
>Honestly, the guy’s just *too much*. That’s all I can say,” he said, warily eyeing his eccentric challenger.

>As for Suzuki, he declared, “June 18 will be the day Hideki Suzuki becomes Triple Crown Champion.”
>He added, “When I challenged before as a freelancer, it was about building a track record.
>Of course that’s still important—but now that I’m part of the roster, I want to raise the quality of All Japan Pro Wrestling.
>To do that, I feel the best way is to lead from the top, and that’s why I’m taking on this challenge.”

>Can Jun handle an opponent who refuses to play by the rules?

I expect only a few matches to be confirmed, like last year. The Monday Magic gimmick is that it's unpredictable and you don't know what matches will be featured.

I do like that the Hardcore title from years past finally fits the name though.

>...Yuma Anzai (26) announced the disbanding of the new-generation unit “ELPIDA” and his own absence from upcoming shows.

>That day, the four members of ELPIDA—Anzai, Ryuki Honda, Ren Ayabe, and Rising HAYATO—faced the “Hokuto Army” (Hokuto Omori, Kumaarashi, Takahana-shi, and TAROS) in the third match. The bout turned into a chaotic eight-man brawl but Ayabe sealed the victory with Death Roulette on Kumaarashi.

>After the match, Ayabe took the mic and declared, “I’ve made a decision. As of today, I’m leaving ELPIDA. Right now, more than teaming with these four, I just can’t help but feel it’s more exciting to stand across from them in the ring.” He then stepped down and exited the arena. Amid the stunned crowd, Honda followed: “Fighting is more fun, huh? I’d been thinking the same thing. In that case, I’m leaving ELPIDA too.”

>Next came HAYATO, who said, “When I lost the Asia Tag the other day, I thought, ‘I’ve still got a long way to go. My future lies ahead.’ I had fun with everyone, but I’ve been relying on them too much—so from now on, I’ll go forward on my own. Thank you for everything,” and departed.

>Left alone, Anzai said, “ELPIDA started as a team to ‘change the era of AJPW’ and to ‘fire things up.’ Whether we’re side by side or standing across from each other, that mission doesn’t change. The one who’s going to fire up this promotion the most… is me, Yuma Anzai. So please, keep watching All Japan Pro Wrestling—and keep watching me. Thank you all for ELPIDA.” The crowd responded with applause.

>Backstage, Anzai formally announced, “ELPIDA is over, for now,” marking the end of the unit he founded in June of last year. He went on to say, “With today’s disbanding of ELPIDA, I’ve made one decision. To hype up myself even more, and to energize AJPW even more—I’m going to go fight ‘outside’ the ring for a while. During that time, I’ll be taking a brief hiatus.”

>What exactly is this battle “outside” the ring that Anzai refers to…?
Anonymous
6/19/2025, 12:09:28 AM No.18031981
ELPIDA was a horrible faction because you had three very low energy guys (for different reasons: Anzai plays it cool, Ayabe super awkward, Hayato tries to be soft and kind of feminine) and then Honda is just a ball of activity with no one to play off of it.

Everything looks to be trending up this year for Bushiroad. It is forecasted to be about 14% increases in revenue after they were down the last year based on how they are doing so far this year. Gross profit could be up to potentially around 18% based on how things are trending now after it was down around 9~% last year. This is mostly thanks to their TCGs doing well again. Although from what I've read it seems like wrestling is also doing better this year. (Probably because of the fact they didn't have to give out a ton of raises to Stardom girls like they did last year to prevent an exodus and Okada's contract freeing up money)

NJPW (& Stardom) only make up something like 15% of the total revenue and it isn't super profitable. TCG and Digital stuff make up the rest. It isn't impossible they could consider selling, but I don't really see a reason they would unless they get a really good offer. Buying companies in Japan is a difficult task unless you yourself are a Japanese company so that is an additional added barrier to entry.

>Pro Wrestling Evolution’s “rampaging president” Suwama (48) has sharply criticized AJPW, where he still serves as part-time executive director.

>Having stepped down from his full-time executive role at the end of last year, Suwama now only appears in the ring on a limited basis, about once or twice a month. With the Champion Carnival running from April to May, the June 18 Korakuen Hall event marked his first match in nearly two months—and he went full rampage. In a ten-man tag match against the faction he left in March, *Baka no Jidai* (“The Age of Fools”), Suwama exploded: “Those guys are out of line! They’re ruining what All Japan Pro Wrestling is all about!” He went on, “I came back after a while and nothing’s changed—hell, it’s even worse. You might as well tear the whole thing down and start over!”

>The next day on June 19, speaking to press at Evolution’s Shinkiba event, Suwama doubled down: “Coming back after a while, it felt like the fighting style had gotten all light and poppy. I snapped. Maybe that’s what people want these days, but not me.” He pointed to *Baka no Jidai* as the cause: “Of course they’re to blame. Only one thing to do—crush ’em.”

>What really sticks in his craw, though, is Hideki Suzuki—his former World Tag Team Championship partner. “That bastard’s lost all his fangs,” Suwama scoffed. “Back when he was freelancing, he had real edge.” Suzuki had just wrestled a grueling match against Jun Saito for the Triple Crown the night before, electrifying the crowd even in defeat. But Suwama wasn’t having it: “Sure, it was a hell of a match, but that wasn’t the gloomy Hideki Suzuki I knew. On top of that, he was *popular*—you could hear fans calling out ‘Hideki~’ and all that. What the hell’s up with that?! Hideki Suzuki being popular? That’s just wrong!”

>Jealousy? Maybe—but Suwama insisted otherwise. “Hideki Suzuki *shouldn’t* be popular. Am I saying something crazy here? No. If anything’s crazy, it’s the world around me. And I’m the one who’s gotta set it straight.”

>Whatever the reason, one thing’s for sure: Suwama’s fire is real. Trouble may be brewing.

For me it's because they were doing so well after Nakajima came and went - probably the best they looked in a decade. Attendance was up because people were buying into Super Rookie Anzai becoming Triple Crown champion and seeing how the company was producing an array of talent, rather than just "give it to Miyahara" yet again. I say this as someone who thinks Kento is great, but they needed more than just him beating monsters. Then for whatever reason, the company took the belt off of Anzai too early and gave it to people like Bulldog Jr. while focusing too much on the Saito Brothers.
>tldr - they were doing well but have made weird decision after weird decision since the Fall last year

I agree with mostly everything. Although at this point i'd rather see Honda with the belt than Saito. The main thing that I have a gripe with is how comedy filled the undercard has become. Honda is decent worker even if he has a WOAT look and is goofy.

Also regarding recent booking everything has kinda been a failure.
>Yuma Aoyagi, Jun Saito, and Davey Boy's runs have all sucked back to back.
>Ayabe is a failure

I think the bloom is off the Saitos at this point and they don't really have many more stories to tell unless you want the fat one to win the world title belt.

Later he became Minoru Suzuki.
It's been 37 years since then.
I wonder if I've become a little stronger.
I want to become stronger...I live my life thinking about that every single day.

I'm going to make a calendar for July but won't have it ready until late tonight so I'll put a new thread up with it in the morning. If anybody wants to make new before that, go for it I'll just put calendar in the replies.

So long as I'm mentioning it: if anybody has anything to add lmk. Particularly if you know where Gleat lists what they'll stream on YouTube or if Samurai has a schedule of what they'll show live.
