Swerve is pure charisma and top tier talent. Bringing him in and having him win the G1 would bring a LOT of eyes to NJPW. Problem is I don't know if Tony would be willing to part with one of his main eventers for however long this G1 may run.

Another good angle would be bringing Jericho in and giving him a G1 champion run. The fans love him and he would bring a lot of lapsed fans back to see the GOAT get one last run and win it all.

Goddamn western puro smarks are literally retarded. NJPW can't even afford to keep its heavyweight tag champs under contract and you think a wrestler wants to leave NJPW to go to a company that makes maybe 25% of its revenue, so he could get paid half as much by appearance only with no contract guarantees?

He thinks because Cyberfight is a big company, NOAH must have a big budget. It does not have a big budget. Their revenue stream has been abysmal the last 5 years with the exception of Mutoh's retirement which is roughly the equivalent of a single Wrestle Kingdom gate.
They don't even pay their top guys, let alone young guys. The only people who get paid in NOAH are the guys attached to the front office (veterans who have politic'd themselves into that position like Marufuji). There's a lot of old guys patting each other on the back in NOAH and it's not just in the booking. It's part of a larger problem in the company.

You have to protect yourself when you work with Japanese wrestling companies. Any of them, NJPW included, but NOAH and AJPW are particularly bad about doing whatever they have to do to keep a small number of veteran guys paid at the expense of everyone else.

>and has handled their new gen better
They've handled exactly one guy well, maybe 2 but Ulka is like mid 30s already. The key though is he got hot, made an otherwise garbage can level stable with a nostalgiabait name hot and currently their only sin is having their regular retarded booking around him instead of directly affecting him (the tag title deal but that was WWE's fault even though they still let Omos pin Kaito for no reason, the Endo bullshit, Sugiura being shoehorned in).

New Japan is doing a solid job building up more than 1 right now in the middle of giving long-time fans love with Goto's title run and Tana's final year, but not a single potential hot angle has emerged to catapult any of them.

It doesn't though ? Wrestling is dead in Japan. 100 000 tickets sold considering the amount of shows they're doing is not impressive at all. If they were in a good place they could afford to not let all of their main event stars go somewhere else, don't you think ? They're the big fish in a small, almost dry pond.

So to make you even more mindbroken and give you a better idea of how grim it is: NJPW booked 2 Tokyo Dome shows this year and right now with all the shows they have done they're not above the first 6 months of NJPW in 2020 that had 2 Dome shows, the New Beginning tour and then for the next 4 months no shows or shows with literally 0 fans because of covid.

That's right, it's so grim that even 2020 coofy NJPW outdraws current NJPW. Now you can bubble and talk to yourself again.

NJPW has not been able to create a star that can sort of draw a dime at the Dome since LIJ Naito. It's their own fault, blaming the coof is too easy. This will make the other retarded schizo bubble but again look at what other sports or businesses do. Look at what Rizin drew at the Tokyo Dome. A twink with a literal 4-3 winning record can outdraw the biggest wrestling promotion in Japan.

The point is NJPW fans act like the coof is still a relevant excuse in 2025 when other businesses are doing totally fine or even better than pre-coof. Even in puroresu as grim and dimeless as it is right now, Stardom had some growth here and there. The coof and the weak yen is the easiest cop-out when the reality is that japs just don't want to spend money on wrestling because all they have is some Reiwa antidraw shitters and the only loyal gaijin is a complete dimeless faggot with no personality.

What is given away is that the imaginary pole-kun lives in your head rent free. (KWAB >>17971586 )
It's time for me to make an announcement that might ease your mind a little bit though: I'll go on a small trip for a few days so I'll be busy. Which means I won't be here to remind Bushidrones that NJPW is grim and that Griminion is a flop. I'll trust the other Grimsters to do the job though. (or maybe these threads will just die cause nobody cares about NJPW, grim)

Reminder that if Griminion draws:
7 thousy: very grim because there's still no growth since 2023.
8 thousy: grim because that's barely doing better than a card with Jeong Mok in the semi-main and juniors main eventing.
9 thousy and above would actually be alright to great but it will not happen because NJPW is in a very grim state.

Remember you live in a grim reality. If Griminion somehow draws at least 9k I'll kneel to Bushidrones when I come back but I'm confident this will never happen.

Anyway, I'll be busy in the next few days so I'm out.

NIGGERS !

Money and Miles. Very few guys on the roster are actually willing to sawdust themselves for the business. And no one from the G1 aside from Gabe falls in that category for me. New Japan needs to really reassess their dojo. They almost fumbled Hiromu back in the day and in modern times completely fumbled Ozawa who is now the biggest star outside of the company aside from maybe Kamitani. Then you had guys who showed interest in joining the dojo who they never picked up like Mao and Takeshita.

No way is Tana doing the G1. Not only can he physically not put on a whole tournament full of matches up to the standard he'd want, but it would make a bunch of the "final match with..." matches he'd had with guys on his retirement road meaningless because he'd likely have to face them again in block matches and at least theoretically in the finals.

>NJPWโ€™s Taichi (45) has revealed his ambitions for a major milestone as he eyes a โ€œtop division comeback.โ€

>On June 15 at Osaka-jo Hall, Taichi will team with Tomohiro Ishii to challenge IWGP Tag Team Champions Great-O-Khan and Callum Newman. At the Hiroshima event in April, they defeated the mentor-student duo of Tetsuya Naito and Hiromu Takahashi. โ€œIโ€™m the last man to beat Naito before he left, and the last to make him cry. Though I also ended up being the last to take his Destinoโ€ฆ Well, I want him to go focus on his own journey now, knowing weโ€™ve got things covered,โ€ Taichi said, vowing to win the belts.

>O-Khan had taunted him: โ€œIf youโ€™re only fired up now because Naitoโ€™s seat is empty, itโ€™s too late,โ€ calling him a โ€œwindow seat guy.โ€ Taichi fired back: โ€œI wasnโ€™t waiting around for any seat to open. This past year Iโ€™ve been fighting hard to make my comeback. I went after every opportunity, and I think I left a strong impression in the NEW JAPAN CUP with the matches I had.โ€

>His sumo-inspired phrasingโ€”โ€œtop division comebackโ€โ€”refers to a return to the G1 Climax (kicking off July 19 in Sapporo), which he missed last year. โ€œWhether I get into G1 or not, this match might be my final chance to make a case. Iโ€™m teaming with Ishii, and both of us werenโ€™t in it last year. If we beat guys who were, no one can argue we donโ€™t belong. And it would make things more interesting if I targeted Callum, who just challenged for the IWGP World Heavyweight Title,โ€ he said, underlining the stakes.

>One reason heโ€™s so focused on getting into G1: the shot at breaking Riki Choshuโ€™s record as the oldest G1 winner (44 years, 8 months). With Fujita Jr. Hayato just becoming the youngest BOSJ winner, Taichi sees an opening on the opposite end of the spectrum. โ€œFujita just set the youngest recordโ€”I want to go the other way. Even Daiki Asatoโ€™s historic yokozuna promotion got people excited. If thereโ€™s a record I can go after from the *reverse* direction, I want to take that challenge,โ€ he said definitively.

>Once known for pushing back against generational change, Taichi says his mindset has started to shift. โ€œWhen the older guys fire up, it lifts the younger ones too. Instead of yelling โ€˜This is our era!โ€™ we should all be working together to rebuild. NJPW right now canโ€™t afford to be split by generations. We need to keep our feet grounded and rise together.โ€ With pride in his heart, Taichi heads into the Osaka showdown.

I'm not sure what a gay man is going to do for the fujos

But he's not a bad wrestler, at least from the very limited amount of ring-time I've seen him in. I'm curious if he is up for it or if he'll be a completely drag who wastes a bunch of matches.

Bowens is a guy you stick in tag league cuz you gotta have a guest team that work decent but are otherwise uneventful. Getting an AEW guest for the G1 and it being a jobber with no storyline or character is the type of shit that ruined the tournament's reputation 2 years ago when they stuck a who's who of who gives a fuck into it to fill 32 slots.

They nuke Gabe Kidd's identity and send a guy they don't care about. Riveting.

I think they DO want to push him though, AEW. He's at the very start of a slow singles push, kind of getting the Kyle Fletcher treatment (lost a lot until he joined Callis and then turned it around and is now pretty high on the power level list). They'll probably give him a medium-to-strong performance in the G1 as part of his story to help build him up back in America which means that a few of /ourguys/ are going to be jobbing to him.

Unfortunate. Hopefully he is capable of making them look good. He's a decent hot tag but being a singles wrestler is way harder and you need a gas tank in the G1. He's a beefy power guy though, so I expect good matches with Boltin and Takeshita.

We Work Stiff's last ditch cope for Gabe is the only thing I can see salvaging him somewhat, punching up at the only thing he can: Bushiroad. Just fucking let loose at the press conference how Mox threw money at him to come in and he took it and then go off about how him rising to the top of NJPW will force Bushiroad to loosen the pursestrings and save the company blah blah blah. It won't save him fully and it's obviously dangerous territory but he's got nothing else.

WWS are a character/story podcast, they aren't dirtsheet scrapers and they have a better track record at emerging stuff in NJPW than le anti-smark midwits who have no insight into anything besides scoffing at anyone who even attempts a critical thought. I care about Gabe having a consistent character where his core trait that got him over, authenticity, isn't completely shit all over with this AEW nonsense. Gabe's shit Dominion promo showed he's already lost the plot and you're naive if you think there aren't more than a handful of the domestic audience raising an eyebrow at this, especially the potshot at Tsuji over the Indonesia stuff

You make it a real threat and so you build up a guy as the savior of NJPW by winning the final and defeating the Great AEW Satan, could be Uemura or Kidd or whoever really.
