Not true. Bucks got BC into Hot Topic in 2017. Deal was probably inked before then. Had nothing to do with Cody.

Story goes Hot Topic executives were walking around some festival or something and saw all the Bullet Club shirts and asked why they weren't selling those shirts. Don't quote me on that, but I remember reading that.

Cody literally joined bullet club bc Owens told the Bucks to help Cody on the Indies. Cody randomly joined bullet club, had mid matches with no memorable angles, then ruined the Omega vs Ibushi fued. No one gave a shit about Cody until AEW. Then the fans got sick of him after a year and a half of the Codyverse. His bits on early BTE were good, but that was about it from his Bullet Club era. I will not let history be rewritten.

I still remember him getting dead silence when he beat Ibushi at Dontaku in 2018. Japs did not give a single fuck about Cody. He didnโ€™t put the work in, only showed up when he felt like it, never entered any tournaments, and never did any tours. He didn't give the audience a reason to care about him. Michael Elgin of all people was infinitely more over during that time because he actually bothered to put the effort in

I was at Wrestle Kingdom 12 for his match with Ibushi and it was the same vibe, no one could be bothered to give a damn even though he was a WWE guy and typically they get some sort of reaction just based on notoriety. He never got over with the Japanese audience just like he never got over with AEW's audience but we are supposed to pretend like he left WWE and reinvented himself globally, it's all a bunch of horse shit.

tbf cody played his part in getting bullet club more popular in america, mainly to do with him being funny on BTE but thats as far as his contribution goes.

Kenny omega and his match with okada alongside the young bucks and doing BTE were what made bullet club become more mainstream, even then bullet club had become a lot more known when aj and the rest came over to wwe which probably helped as well.

Cody be like

>So after I broke my spine in 4 places slamming Andre so hard he died, I flew out to Japan so I could wrestle for the 400th time that year. I didn't even go to the doctor. When I landed in Japan, I had a match with a guy called Atonio Inoki. He's the guy who created wrestling, but he came to me for advice on it, and basically everything I told him is what he went with. I could take credit for creating wrestling if I wanted to I guess, but I'm too humble for that. Anyway, I murdered Antonio Inoki in the ring and brought him back to life by shedding a single tear on his face. Everyone was congratulating me-- Right brother?-- and that's when Godzilla came up out of the sea and challenged me to a match.

I used to go to a lot of NJPW shows during Bullet Club's peak when I lived there, made friends with Zack Sabre, so I got into a lot for free too. By my estimation I would say the gaijins face and heel alike ranked by popularity were as follows:

Kenny
The Bucks
Ospreay
Juice
Marty Scurll
Ricochet
Big Mike
Murderhawk
Hangman
ZSJ
Cody

Honorable mention to Chris Jericho who was arguably more over than half the list but wasn't active enough to really be considered.

I actually liked Cody before it was the cool thing to do. I realized he was the guy to lead the industry in 2019 after AEW's first show. He's a poor man's John Cena in that he can be a white hot babyface but not as good as Cena. Everyone knows he's a self mark (neck tattoo, lol) but that's what makes him good. Most babyfaces are too humble.

Dronies like to pretend they're smart but they aren't. Cody looked like a god next to average WWE wrestlers because he had pyro TWICE in his entrance. Most wrestlers don't even get pyro anymore. The ones who do tend to be the most over. The WWE marks warmed up to Penta and Fenix because they have pyro and cool entrance themes.

To be more specific, Bullet Club was dimes during the Devitt and AJ years. It became massively gay when Kenny and the Bucks joined. Cody made it temporarily less gay but it was still gay because Kenny and the Bucks were involved. Cody then make the Elite which was dimes but then became almost immediately gay because Kenny and the Bucks were involced.

The Japs do the big dogeza to anything that will help them earn money for their companies. They put business first, to their credit, and NJPW has benefited massively on a financial level from the partnership in a way that is measurable. The loss of wrestlers as assets is much more difficult for the suits at Bushiroad who doesn't know the wrestling business to understand. They just see the money coming in from Forbidden Door or whatever and think it's a good thing and NJPW itself is entirely at the mercy of the Bushiroad suits.

Tanahashi is just a figurehead.

Yeah, basically. Japanese girls are incredibly easy in my experience, everyone eats fast food and smokes, I don't even think people live as long as people claim, it's just that so many people are lying to the government that their parents are still alive in order to collect a check, or so I have been told. I think there are less fat people simply because less people drive in general. If America fixed their public transport I think you would see a huge drop off in fat fuck at least for a short period of time.

I mean, I'm sure it does exist, maybe not in the metro area I lived in near Tokyo, probably more near Fuji, but it was actually at the Mt. Fuji Museum I was told this by a Japanese woman who was also there, she said no one from Japan climbs Mt. Fuji, it's all tourists (which is mostly true as I've hiked it). The superstition is that if you climb it twice you'll get bad luck, but she said if you climb it one time you're an idiot, if you climb it two times you are two times an idiot. As far as women being conservative dressing and cute/put together, that's all true, but to an annoying degree, and you basically can't ever break plans with a Japanese or else you are dead to them. Japanese nightlife is the most insane I've experienced and if you go to places like Roppongi you can party until 9am if you meet the right people. You're welcome.

I used to be like this guy, it felt like a lot of early 2000s wrestling internet boards were strongly anti-Hogan which was a culture shock to me as a young Hulkamaniac..I got back into Hulkamania after he dunked on the tabloid media and I realized he was based and out worked everyone in the industry for a reason. I was present at his last WWE match and I'll never forget the pop he got, it was the loud thing I've ever heard, it felt like my ears were going to bleed. I'm convinced that Hulkamania on it's own was bigger than wrestling as a whole.

Dumb thing for Cody to say. Bullet Club was DIMES when Devitt was leading, and still pretty DIMES when AJ was leading it.
Bucks and Tama Tonga were the worst things about it and were dimeless. It didnt go to complete shit until Kenny started leading it.

Yeah but the nWo angle went on for another three years after that and then again after. The Sting character continued for another 25 years. It was actually a success.

What ruined wrestling was the nWo shitshow of a culture Eric Bitchsoff created since he wasn't a business man but a shitwood agent in charge of a wrestling show and Ted's money until Time Warner lost all of it.
The Only reason he didn't came back to WWF as Flair was because turner was desperate to keep all of them there, and Vince loving it because without the politics backstage we got Stone Cold, Taker, Kane, DX and all of attitude era, and Vince himself became a legend, while the old dinos were at WCW.
Only Hogan and Flair adapted to WWE quickly as they came back, the rest couldn't
