Hell, you've been to a wrestling show. If a fight broke out 3 rows behind you, you'd turn to watch that and not the match. Because the theatrical element of wrestling is baked in and you watch it for different reasons than you'd watch a fight.
Anime is mainstream. Everyone 30 and under likes anime or manga or something with that art style and stories of fatherless warriors. The nerds are the people who don't like anime. You may be a 40 year old frog poster but the anime aspects of match constitution is the current and the future.
