This is a deep cut but I grew up going to watch Jersey All Pro Wrestling. I was an ECW mark from the northeast and this was one of the shitdies that tried to capture that feel. There was a Tag Team called Da Hit Squad and they had a spot where the crowd would chant

these fat dudes would pick up some unlucky vanilla midget in a gorilla press and throw them head first into the wall (it was a tiny gym) and then they would land face first on the concrete. I can’t find a lot of it online but they used to do this every single show and some of them were fucking brutal and guys wouldn’t put their hands up going into the wall or bump on their hands coming down. The sickest regular spot I’ve ever seen. If they couldn’t do the wall toss because they were in a different arena these guys would just slam guys head over and over into it like a turnbuckle spot until it broke. They loved using walls.

It wasn’t super family friendly but it also wasn’t 100 percent garbage wrestling. CZW started at the same time and that’s where most of the garbage was, there was some slight overlap. Way more overlap with ROH which just started. I believe ROH was in Baltimore so naturally a lot of the same guys. Just no ROH code of conduct. It was more like ECW lite with more focus on the wrestling and not the extreme. AJ was there. A lot of old ECW guys. Guys that would end up in PGW when they weren’t on the west coast. All the EVP’s from AEW showed up at one point or another. I don’t think Punk or Danielson ever did but Low-Ki and Jay Lethal. Some deathmatch guys like Necro but different style matches than CZW. It was actually pretty good.
