Might not be your eyes, it might be your trigger control or the weapon. I hate optics fags and you should be fine with iron sights as long as you zero them. If you are shooting an AR, its too light and its easy for men to try to control the weapon's recoil and fuck up your shot. Also, if you have a shit trigger or if you dont have good trigger control, you won't be accurate. Step up to a larger caliber rifle or maybe even bolt action.

I just don't think it's safe to go, in the case an argument breaks out and escalates into something worse. It happens a lot in my city, if the morning news is anything to go by. Not to mention that in this political climate, tensions are high af.

It is accurate. I regularly hit stuff dead on at 200 yards with iron sights. I've hunted with an SKS. I've fucked around and hit targets consistently at 300 with iron sights. Your average faggot isn't shooting beyond that. If you take the time to practice with your rifle and adjust the sights, it's a solid option. I get the whole .556 ballistics argument, but for 200-300 yards, I'd prefer an SKS and 762x39 over the AR as long as you have decent ammo. Beyond that, I wouldn't choose either. Also, ARs feel like toys to me.

Fair points on the SKS and M1. I got confused between posts. I'm a bigger dude (280 and not fat) and both are better options for me than the AR. Size matters for me. Rem 700 is a heavier bolt action or a Winchester Model 70 is something within most people's budgets. Depends on the build and year obviously, but both are heavier generally speaking than your standard AR.

m43, russian ball ammo, doesn't tumble until like 10 inches through tissue so you need to use hunting ammo to get any terminal affect. it's one of the reasons they switched to 5.45.

nah, a national match AR has upgraded sights, an upgraded trigger, usually 2 stage, often a bad lever, the match barrels are all heavy as fuck because they need to be able to shoot a pair of 10 round strings without heating up. if you shoot a normal barrel it will start stringing when it heats up. a hunting barrel will start stringing in like 3 or 4 shots. then you get a float tube so the barrel isn't impacted by you pulling on the sling or touching the hand guard.

the extra weight in the stock is to balance out the gun because the match barrels are heavy. every match barrel on any gun is heavy. A heavy gun doesn't make it shoot better, the issue is you don't want the barrel heating up and more metal means the barrel heats up slower
