I don't think there's anything wrong with an occasional match that's just an attraction. I don't need more build to this match. Gunther's going to retire Goldberg in his hometown on a TV special. It doesn't bother me really.

The only true fumblings are:

>Tony
Punk & Cody

>Hunter/WWE
Swerve & Toni

everything else is just a meme

Yep

>Cody
Dude should have turned heel while the fans were booing him out of every building. Hell, they threw his weight belt back into the ring at him.

>Swerve & Toni
I don't watch WWE.
Was it really as bad as people say? I remember WAY more AEW fans being excited for Keith Lee. Swerve was an afterthought and wait. . . where they hell is Keith Lee anyway?

Toni would have stayed "backwards hat punk rock" Toni forever and would never have been allowed to do the Timeless character, so it's best she left

Swerve got saddled with three other blacks in development and told to do a "hip hop" stable that was doomed from the start, instead of showcasing Swerve he was asked to elevate the other three. Considering how little black male uppercard talent WWE has, it's a major fumble

Swerve was on tv for one week and fired the next. Toni was going nowhere fast with the booking they were doing. Just having her get bullied by Charlotte every week. Typical Vince shit. Both are immensely better off in AEW. I would for sure say those are WWE's two biggest fumbles
For AEW though I disagree entirely on Punk and Cody
Punk had to go. You can't keep someone around who's acting the way he was. If you do that only sets the standard for other talent to act that way and they would've been even worse off than they were. Sure he was a big name to lose but it was necessary
Cody even I don't feel like he was a loss to AEW. Their fans wanted him gone. They were never going to buy into the martyr babyface he was deadset on booking himself to be. I've said it so many times. The Cody that exists in WWE could never exist in AEW. It comes down to the fact that he was an EVP there. A guy who books himself and runs the company isn't going to get sympathy unlike in WWE where he's just another wrestler so it works
As far as actual names that AEW has lost that would be fumbles? Mariah May has potential to be a big one. She only just got to WWE so obviously it's too soon to say but I see no reason for her not to be a world champion level name within the next year or two

Tbf senpai, I don't know if anyone saw that Timeless gimmick taking off the way it did.

I remember liking Swerve in Lucha Underground but that "hip hop" stable sounds way more like an awful, clueless Vince gimmick and less like Triple K's hatred of blacks in the spotlight.

For sure. I said after he was let go, there's no way you DON'T hire him if you're TK. I know he got along with and probably helped some younger AEW talent but it reeked of locker room cancer and at that point, there's no way you DON'T fire him before it spreads further.

>It comes down to the fact that he was an EVP there. A guy who books himself and runs the company isn't going to get sympathy unlike in WWE where he's just another wrestler so it works
Bingo. I personally liked Cody in AEW but unless he had pulled some god-tier corporate heel gimmick out of his ass, he was way better off "completing his story" in WWE.

>Mariah May has potential to be a big one.
That's a big get for WWE. I never watched her Japan run but she caught my eye the second she debuted in AEW and was an instant favorite of mine. WWE will probably have her tone down her stiff as fuck style but they still got a great one. I'll agree that Tony fumbled that.

Mariah/Blake is pretty clearly a WWE fangirl who was always going to chase her Wrestlemania dreams when the fed was interested. To me, you can't really fumble someone that you can't convince to stay

Punk should have been sent packing when he sperged out at the press conference, burying talent and the company.
