Hate AEW if you will, but she's an opportunist and she's simping for her employer.
She jumped ship from Stardom over to AEW first chance she get after being given a shot out of nowhere from obscurity. First chance she got, she jumped ship from AEW.
Now she's sucking WWE's dick to get that push by trashing her previous employer. If she lands a mainstream role, look for her to jump ship out of WWE first chance she gets as well.
I ain't saying that console war. I watched her in Stardom, not AEW. I'm just saying there's a pattern with this woman.

AEW isn't my thing. I watch it here and there just like I watch WWE here and there. It's not worse, it's not better. There are good workers there just as there are good workers in WWE. Both have hits and misses.
Like I said, the utter hate aimed at both companies is completely unhinged and I don't see how anyone who engages in it could possibly be White.

It's never a good look to publicly trash former employers, especially ones who lifted you from relative obscurity.
It's every bit as bad a look as when people bash WWE after leaving.

Feels like you're oversimplifying things a bit. I'm sure you would be more than inspired if you were world champion and stuck in tv feuds with Yuka Sakazaki and Anna Jay. Oh wait. You actually get a ppv match this month. Oh but it's a two-week feud with Thunder Rosa. It's not like she did bad work for AEW. She was given fuck all unless her booking directly involved Toni. She spent 6 months as world champion and had 2 matches on ppv. There's no excuse for that regardless of who the champion is. Plus regardless of anything else she gave the company the division's best match on her way out anyway

>I don't know. I read criticism into it. I never really liked her to begin with so maybe I'm just hypercritical.
That's fair if you just don't like her. I don't feel like that's dissimilar to a lot of the negativity coming from it. People upset with her leaving are going to scrutinize it for any little point they can to validate that and find something to be mad at. And sure enough they got what they wanted. Not saying that's you but more that's kind of anything. What you look for is what you'll find
She mentioned feeling dejected around the end of last year. That's all. It might have had to do with AEW it might have been completely unrelated. It's not like she didn't go on to do some of the best work of her time in AEW beyond then all the way up to her last appearance there anyway. It seems like she left AEW on good terms. They even put together that video compilation of her entire run and story with Toni after they knew she was gone

This place is weird at times. It's fun to shitpost and snark at times, but I find I can get sucked into defending positions I don't *really* mean because it's just fun to go along with a position than take a step back.
I wasn't a huge fan in Stardom but maybe she's a good gal. And it was always obvious that WWE was what she was going for (and I think she's a better fit there than AEW). I actually really do hope she finds success.

Kirdblt. Everyone mad at her for leaving when in reality Tony knew everything he was going to do with her and even pitched it to her before she signed and still only gave her a 2 year deal. Every issue that side has with her going can be traced back to that. All he had to do was offer her 3 or 4 or 5 years and she'd still be there and it'd be a nonissue

There's a middle ground and obviously contracts are going to vary from person to person but in Mariah's case when Tony himself came up with the story and knew what he wanted to do with it and pitched it himself to her before she signed then it goes without saying that he probably shouldn't have only signed her for 2 years. It's not like any of it was a surprise to him. Even then hey we all make mistakes. In that case after you put the belt on her you sit down and you renegotiate a new deal for longer time and give her more money. You don't wait until those 2 years are up and the story she's in wraps up so perfectly that you could put a bow on it all while lining up with the timing of her contract ending. She said it herself that she didn't think WWE would want her at that point so for all intents and purposes she would still be in AEW had they done anything else but what they did with her contract wise

i think this is why so many aew fans are lashing out over it too. they were so set on their 'hurr durr fed mark' cope that they convinced themselves there was nothing aew could have done to keep her. turns out that isn't the case anymore and her going to wwe wasn't the guarantee they claimed it was and there was in fact a lot more aew could have done to keep her there

To use the momentum she had to put other women over. I mean I'm personally glad he didn't. The Hollywood Ending was the perfect exit and as a huge fan of her AEW run and that story by not using her for anything else beyond it that run she had was generational
>That's not the point anyway, she said she was depressed at the end of last year when she was still champion, not after she lost to Toni.
Oh I wasn't getting into that side of it at all. Just pointing out that he had all of that time he still could have used her but chose not to. Who knows if her being depressed even had to do with AEW or her booking

That's the entire problem with Tiny, this wouldn't have been wasted time if it was any good, in fact he could have used the attention of her departure and WWE debut to bring more eyes to the show.
It's always the same shit with him, "oh that wrestler isn't one my faithful ass kisser, so in the toybox you stay". Doesn't matter if they're busting their asses to get over or bring something new.
it's not a business to him, not even an art form, just a vanity project to stroke his ego. This is literally why this company is in the damn shape it's in, because of bullshit like this.
What incentive does anybody have for hard work and innovation in AEW?

Watch the video, it has nothing with her booking.
My theory is that AEW wanted to re-sign her in late 2024 when she was champion but she was secretly hoping WWE would make an offer, that's why she felt dejected. She always had WWE in mind, even before signing with AEW.
Then Sarah Stock (AEW producer) put her in contact with WWE and when she finally got an offer she told AEW she was leaving so they moved the Hollywood Ending to revolution.
There's a big gap between "I felt dejected" and "I started training again". One happened in late 2024, the other happened after she was taken off TV after the Hollywood Ending.

Well actually it could have everything to do with her booking because it's obvious that Tony had no plans for her anymore
In fact it's easy to argue that Tony had no plans for anybody in the women division beyond Mone wins everything, and therein probably lies the entire problem

People keep saying that she won the title in AEW, but after she won she was essentially kept on ice, which Tony does to all of his new champions. He never has a follow up for them so they spend the next 6 months facing jobbers with no actual feuds or storylines. Mariah was literally just holding the belt backstage until Toni came back

Not if you actually watched the video. She was only worried about not getting a WWE offer when she was red hot, probably because it was at the same time AEW started the negotiations for a new contract.
The only mistake TK made was to give her a 2-year contract. It should have been 3.

I did see it. I think you're making a lot of guesses as well in regard to the WWE stuff. Why would she expect an offer from WWE while she was in the middle of her contract? One thing when her contract was winding down but back around late last year she still had half a year to go. Not even saying that didn't happen but I just don't think that's connected as much
Mariah already had connections with WWE outside of anyone in AEW anyway. They had brought her in as an extra for the first Clash at the Castle show before she went to Stardom

Not only this but on the exact show she won it AEW started their promotion for the Australia Grand Slam show. So everyone with a few brain cells to rub together immediately pieced together that Toni would win it back in her hometown the way Mariah just won it in hers. Couple that with the incredibly uninspired set of challengers she got during her reign (barring Willow and Mina) and there was never any reason for fans to get invested in her reign. Tony made her a lame duck champion the day she won it since everyone knew exactly when and where Storm would win it back from her

She defended it 7 times.
The feud against Mina was supposed to start in October but Mina had visa issues so they delayed it by two months, hence the filler defenses between October and December. They had plans after Wembley.

this. she wasn't really booked or treated as a world champ as much as the belt was just used as a prop in her and toni's story. she was only put on 2 ppvs despite being champ for half a year

People using Mariah as a totem to cosole war with are the biggest kinds of shithead fans in the world. You've never seen a Mariah may match one day in your life and you never cared about her til she jumped to WWE. And spent the prior 2 years calling her Temu TIffany Stratton
Horrible, awful "fans"

You're not wrong about them but it's also never been nearly as toxic as since she's left AEW. I just think it sucks that someone can achieve their childhood dream, post about it, and have this kind of bullshit be the response to it. God forbid someone be excited about achieving something like that
