Not everybody needs an epic catchphrase or a weird costume, etc etc, but everybody needs something to make them stand out and turn them into a distinct, memorable character. Take the Junkyard Dog, for instance. The man was literally a cartoon character, and that got him mega-over. At one point he was easily one of the WWF's most popular babyfaces at a time when they had Hogan, Savage, and all kinds of other big draws. He would be the model to emulate.
