>An AEW wrestler showing up in MLW is a big deal, as those two companies aren’t on good terms. (That’s the reason CMLL had an MLW show and then a FansticaMania show with no MLW people.) MJF has a positive history with MLW and would appreciate the viral attention from an unexpected appearance, and he likely didn’t have to travel far to make a show in New York. (He got to continue the story with Mistico without having to get on a plane.) The challenge would have been convincing AEW that it was a good idea, and MJF is among the best at convincing people that his ideas are good.

That hints to me that the MJF/Mistico rematch may not have an AEW destination, and it’s a little bit more likely to be the Aniversario match. If it was happening in AEW, there would be no need to gain attention for it outside of AEW. I’m sure we’ll see Mistico pop up in AEW before long, maybe Wednesday when MJF is wrestling, maybe All In, but I think this points to the rematch happening in Arena Mexico.
