He shouldn't have ruined TNA. He probably realized later it was his last chance. If he didn't do TNA, he would've still had clout.

It really doesn't pay to shill for a huge corporate juggernaut that is obviously desperately trying to kill it's competition.
Fags like Eric and Konam make it blatantly obvious they are bitter a non entertainment monopoly are making a name for themselves.
Eric is also one of those said guys. Allegedly

whats left to see? wrestlers have been over-exposed for the last 5 years. there is literally nothing interesting wrestling-wise they could have on their card. there are no legends that could show up to spark any interest.

He knew exactly what he was doing with Nitro and its presentation. He tried to give it a sports feel and like anything can happen, and he did that from 96-98. He also made it a point to shoot in unique locations like Panama or wherever the fuck it was with the swimming pool. His run in TNA was abysmal, and he has proven himself to be clueless in a lot of ways, but Nitro's presentation was a very deliberate thing by him and he deserves credit for that at least. Nitro had such a cool feel for a couple of years before the logo and stage change

As much as I wish Eric gave it up after failing in the AWA, Iโ€™ll give him credit for the feel of Nitro. Problem is he started huffing his own farts when the NWO was hot and didnโ€™t have any sort of plan after they had run their course. Keeping the NWO in 1998 served no other purpose than keeping them up the card when they shouldโ€™ve been moved down and it ended up killing the company. But Eric blames Russo and everyone but himself because god forbid he take accountability for his lack of spine.

That was Panama City Beach, IIRC. Also, I'm not a big Bischoff fan and haven't been since his helping damn near kill TNA but I will credit him for that and say I vastly prefer that concept way more than WWE making every place look identical to every other place. Most companies lean into the different and unique cities, crowds, venues. WWE has always wanted to take the McDonalds approach so you get the same experience no matter where they're filming.

Yeah he has a very strange personal vendetta against Russo but neglects to acknowledge the fact that WCW was boring as shit and a directionless disaster in mid-late 99 and that was the entire reason Russo was brought in in the first place. He did not follow up on the Goldberg finger poke angle and WCW sank hard in 99 while WWF was becoming red red hot. He also didn't do anything with Warrior. Warrior actually popped ratings when he appeared but apparently he showed up to Nitro after Halloween Havoc ready to work and Eric had nothing booked for him so he just had to go home. He couldn't even be bothered booking something as basic as Warrior vs Goldberg. I love WCW in 98, I think it was still very good, but Eric definitely became very neglectful during that period and lost his head up his ass

Bishoff is north of 70 now and can't retire and has to work for Conrad selling predatory sub prime mortgages to low-financial literacy marks.
That is so undignified for a man of his age. He can't retire because he's broke.

Eric Bitchshoff lacked the Iron fist Vince McMahon had to control his peers, Nitro and all of the shitshow that happened was literally a circlejerk of he hanging around his idol buddies with zero clue of how is it to be the manager of a wrestling federation and give powers to people whom's egos are as fragile as Kevin Nash's quads + Flair and Hogan's backstage shenanigans that led the new blood to WWF and ended up being the saviors of that company.
In the end, all of Billionaire Ted's shorts were right.

WCW was doing interesting arena layouts way before Bischoff had any real power or was even there. Think about Halloween Havoc and stuff like that. Youโ€™re giving him credit for stuff he probably only had the barest minimum to do with. If anything his aesthetic choices were shit when he had a real interest. Road Wild was something he was behind. He loved LARPing as a biker. It was a disaster. It was a PPV while they were still hot that had 0 gate and confused most PPV buyers. The Miss NWO beauty pageant was him, he wanted a certain look of women. Instead of hot ones he wanted mid-30โ€™s motorcycle mamas. Those were visual choices that can be confirmed he wanted.
That and putting a traditional ring in TNA.
Bischoff was a coffe gopher that failed upward and found himself in a job that since the place was so fucking huge and chaotic he could steal massive amounts of money and get away with it. As soon as record keeping switched over to digital more and more and the left hand began communicating with the right hand easier he was finished.
