Kyle sang the theme song and appeared in a handful of episodes. But he never wrote the show. And he never recorded gameplay for it.

The AVGN show was primarily made by James Rolfe and Mike Matei. Mike wrote the show with him from 2006-2012 and then he gradually moved to streaming instead.

AVGN is extremely scripted.
He's gone over his process several times and no matter what he developed from the last time, the one constant is that he's always doing 5-10 takes and sometimes more, while rewriting the script as he's doing takes because what he wrote doesn't sound right.
