Metal Gear Solid gameplay was definitely innovative for it's time as there wasn't any other stealth based games yet. However the story is retarded and way up it's own ass for no reason at all

He doesn't. He makes games with overly complex mechanics that don't all link together, making the gameplay seem like it has depth when it'd actually be better off being edited. He makes nice third person action games. But his "plots" are nonsensical garbage that seem like someone staying up late and falling down too many wiki holes. Plot, dialog, characters, all the shit people claim he is "great" at drag his games down.

I can agree partly with this. I think MGS 1 isn't all that great a game in hindsight. That game is so bloated, and overhyped for being "cinematic" when it's a perfect example of all the shit bad about Kojima. I think Siphon Filter did the same shit with less nonsense and better gameplay. Splinter Cell to me is the stealth game that really raised the bar and moved away from the top down iso shit. MGS3 and 4 were better stealth "games" than 1 or 2.

I think the longest cut scene I have seen was 5 minutes and I am 70% done. This time a lot of the story is done with dialogue tree options and you can always just simply select "I don't give a fuck" if you want.
