AEW Reportedly Spends Over $100 Milion Per Year on Talent Roster
>According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW reportedly spends an extreme amount of money on its talent roster.
>With a number creeping more than $104 million per year, it's a lot of money going to the talent and some fans are wondering about context and whether AEW is going to be profitable with bloated salaries on the books.
>$104 million

How the fuck did they lose to HGTV? Make it make sense for me

I doubt it's still that much with half the roster leaving for WWE since then with more to come. They barely have the pull to sign any yummy free agents anymore and I doubt Sneedball is getting paid more than Rusev was

COPE AND SEEETHE

> “Mike Mansury filed forms for tax credits in Nevada listing the expresses for the TV taping and Double or Nothing PPV show on 5/24 and 5/25.”
>”The key number was $2 million in salaries, which would include all talent and other workers.”
>“Since talent is paid based on annual contracts, this would indicate the total talent number to be in the range of $104 million per year, which is very high.”
>”Someone familiar with the budgeting said that the way pay is done for some includes per match figures and all the highest paid available top guys were working that weekend and the usual weekly pay is below that figure.”
>”Still I’d safely put it at below the $104 million, but not a lot below it.” - BIG DADDY DAVE

Its not $185m a year.
It's a total value of up to $185m a year based on various milestones. Peoppe decided to ignore half the words in the article that broken the value. So its baseline is significantly lower.

Last year AEW operated at a 70 million loss
Talent eats 100 million a year.
Means that not a single dime was created, infact the entire roster is negative dimes.

A old Jewish nerd with about a thousand paying subscribers gave them 30000 stars though that makes up for it right?

The numbers don’t add up. As bloated as the roster is it atill doesn’t add up. CM Punk had the biggest contract Tony ever gave out and it was only 3 million.
If the guys getting 2.5-3 are
>Edge
>Ospreay
>Omega
>Mox
>Danielson
Then another tier that’s close 2-2.5
>Jericho
>Bucks
>Okada
>Ceasaro
>maybe Christian. Hangman. MJF.
Then a lower tier of 1-2
>Mercedes
>Paige
>FTR
>Adam Cole
>Darby
>Rick O’Shea
>Jay Blade
>Samoa Joe
Even if you round up for the max that’s only 30 million dollars a year. Where the fuck is the other 70 million dollars coming from? Is he paying every single guy on the roster a million dollars? Is Nick Wayne getting a million a year?

Ummm… it’s not. Most wrestling fans, obsessive console warriors and people who try to make internet bux by aggregating dirtsheets (and the dirtsheets themselves) are kinda retarded and believe anything. They can’t do math and draw wild inferences. All you have to do is look at the Ospreay contract to see how it works. A report comes out that says
>Ospreay is reported to have signed a 3+
Year deal for a for a reported 7 figure sum
100 percent believable and still stupidly overpaid. Assume 3+ means no more than 5 or it would have just been reported as 5. And assume that the 7 figures is correct and even factor in for Tony being a mark that was competing against himself and no one else and that shakes out to (a still unreasonable) 4 years at 2.5 million. That’s 7 figures guaranteed not including merch and any other kickers. That is 100 percent a number that WWE is not going to give him hence “refuses to compete with AEW”. It takes exactly 1 day for a bunch of goobers on Twitter and Reddit to say
>Ospreay getting 10 million a year his contract 7 figures Tony is a tardo lol
Then that gets reblogged, retweeted and disseminated until one of the Indian or low test aggregators cites a tweet as a source a month later. We know CM Punk was the highest paid guy in AEW history. There’s real confirmation of his contract details. WWE slashed Punk down to 2.2 they are not giving out the same money as Tony or trying to compete that way. Even if that doesn’t seem like much it’s a 30% difference. People leave their jobs for 5 % bumps. No one is all the sudden getting 3-4 times the previous largest salary. Especially when they cannot get even 1/2 of that anywhere else in the world.
