Ryback DEFENDS WWE: Unreal After Jake Roberts Claims It Will Harm the Business
WWE will be releasing WWE: Unreal, which is a 10-episode series that will delve deep into the creative process of the company and how they write storylines. Jake Roberts recently criticized the show for damaging the business but now Ryback has come to the show’s defense.

The Big Guy took to Twitter and said he believes WWE: Unreal is one of the best things to happen to wrestling and wrestlers. He described wrestling as physical acting and called it the hardest job in the world. Everyone plays a role and it takes the whole roster to make it work.

Ryback said there are no real winners or losers, and he thinks it is time for fans and wrestling media to stop the hate and see it for what it truly is. He compared it to movies where actors are given roles, sometimes laid out in detail and other times decided week by week, and no one criticizes them for playing a bad guy or having small parts. It takes every person involved to bring the show together, and wrestling is ultimately one huge production.

>“I truly believe WWE: Unreal is one of the best things for wrestling and wrestlers. This is physical acting, the hardest thing in the world. We play roles and it takes all of us. No one really wins or loses. It’s time fans and dirt sheets stop the hate and understand what this is. It’s no different than movies, you’re given a role, and depending on your contract, sometimes you know exactly what it is, other times it’s week to week. No one shames actors for playing a bad guy or a small part. It takes everyone. Wrestling is one giant production.”

This comes after Jake Roberts slammed WWE: Unreal for damaging the business as he stated that no amount of money will ever warrant the harm it will end up doing to the industry.

>“I think it’s foolish. I don’t think that product will ever warrant enough money being made for the damage that it’ll do. So that’s just my own thoughts.”

Jake we all know it’s scripted already

I don't see how this show is different from the 1236 behind-the-scenes documentaries that have been made over the past 20+ years

The snake is right. Peeling back the curtain too much is not a good idea. It's already been peeled back far too much as is. However, I don't think it will hurt the business as a whole. I think it will more likely just hurt WWE by making the booking even more predictable.

Still, there's a loss of mystique. It's the reason wrestling is dead.

Why people so upset about this when it's gonna be a worked behind the scenes

Mystique about what? Everyone knows there was a giant writers room where Vince would pick on pencil neck dweebs. And then at the last minute he’d change the lines they wrote.
Heyman already revealed they’d write out the arching storylines from wrestlemania to wrestlemania, an entire years worth, like 15 years ago. You make the goal and you fill in the blanks week to week.
Patrice O’Neal used to talk about writing for WWE on the radio for fucks sake.
Mr Robert’s is getting upset over nothing. There is no mystique or allure to nerds at a table scripting a promo for midget jobber #54 to recite on SMACKDOWN. This isn’t the old days where you’d have a booking committee and the agents would pitch ideas to Dusty Rhodes.

here's the thing, we hear all these rumors and reports but we never really know what's true and what's not. So, there's still a little bit of mystery to it. If they just blow the lid off and reveal everything, that goes out the window.

Of course it's not a good idea but Jake and really no one from AEW is in a position to talk.

I honestly wasn't aware of that, but if those documentaries exposed the business then I would agree that was a bad idea too. I don't think anyone should be trying to kill the last tiny remnants of kayfabe, we need to keep those.

ten minutes of "i worked for stephanie who fired and vince was crazy" followed by cumia doing his vince impression for 40 minutes is hardly some giant behind the scenes expose dude.

Kayfabe was basically dead by the time Beyond the Mat came out but Beyond the Mat nuked what was left of it from orbit.
Jake is full of shit. And no, this is not me defending this show, I hate the idea of this show and HHH is a cocksucker for doing, I'm pointing out that no one's hands are clean and Jake of all people shouldn't be crying about kayfabe, the fucking crackhead.

It's a terrible idea because it wont be honest. Itll show shit like the Young Cucks basically sucking each others cocks and going on about how great shit is.

Imagine if the show was honest and showed what a massive entitled prick shawn Michaels was. Showing the tantrum he had over the match with the British Bulldog were he refused to go out and lose the intercontinental championship. Showing backstage drama over stories hes given.

Imagine showing bret hart and the crap during the stone cold feud where he had arguments backstage practically every week.

The show is only going to show the most bland generic wwe guys being told to do boring story A followed by B and them saying 'how many flips you want me to do?'

This why wrestling can't attract new fans. Imagine you as a kid now or when you were a kid. Wrestling is like today. Would you have still gotten into it, or would you be thevkid saying it's fake? Part if the appeal was defending wrestling cause you believed.

Breaking kayfabe in the middle of a show can be grating, but that's usually not done and rarely the plan.
But it's alright to talk about the production of a wrestling show, why not? No movie producer is trying to pretend the next Star Wars is based on real events and goes "ohhh I'm so glad we had a camera in the next universe over that just so happened to film all the war ohhh I wonder what will happen next".
