Few things in wrestling have pissed me off the way Kenny's 2019 did. You don't take someone who has buzz and garners attention from everyone in the industry, when you're launching the first major arena/network TV rival to WWE in 18 years, and book a story that literally is "Yeah this hot new alternative promotion headed by the most raved about guy outside of WWE? Oops he's actually burned out and washed up and not what he was". You're shouting to the world that your top pickup is past his prime, jobbing him to an ex WWE lowercarder in Pac, and catering exclusively to "will always watch regardless" hardcore consumers of ALL content.

It was defending all those belts that did him in. No time to heal + pushing it to the limit = 2022 Kenny. Why couldn’t he just have a regular AEW champ run. No dressing up as Space Jam characters, no chickenshit heel shenanigans, no belt collector, just the cleaner badass heel champ run everyone wanted from him

Jericho should have been the sacrificial lamb. Have him climb the bracket, get mangled by Omega in the finals in a showstopper and establish Omega as the best wrestler in the world. Then have the narrative be "Who can stop me?" As he puts on 45 minute classics with everyone coming in.

By the time we got to 2018 I thought Omega was pretty overrated. But he was also god among marks and could walk on water. The company should have been built around that and keeping the wrestling side of it professional while doing their retarded elite shit off in youtube land.

You're completely wrong. Kenny was over, but AEW and the roster was not. Also Kenny couldn't go at a high level anymore. He needed to give the rub to the rest of AEW and that was best for business. If they pushed Kenny from the off it'd have been a CM Punk double reign injury forfeit from the off which would have been catastrophic for the brand.

He was not over. He flopped because that first year was pivotal to how he’d be perceived and he spent that year doing nothing but jobs. The American audience wasn't given a reason to see him in the same regard as WWE guys like Jericho and Moxley because they kicked his ass in 2019
Kenny's belt collector gimmick was embarrassing. Nobody gives a shit about Impact or TNA Mexico but smarks tried to make it into a historic thing.

It's a mix of Kenny was hurt and I think he knew he couldn't go all out and Kenny not wanting people to accuse him of running a vanity fed where he won't put anyone over. If anything Kenny got too guilty of being like Danielson and trying to put too many people over. They really should've simplified it and had Jericho as the first big bad champ, Kenny the protagonist gets it off him, then he could've dropped it to Mox by Mox conning him into a match style he isn't used to doing like a hardcore match.

Yeah, this is an important aspect I didn't mention. The Elite were terrified of this. Cody in particular did the "I will never challenge for the top belt again if I lose to Jericho" stipulation.

Hindsight is 20/20, but The Elite back then (mistakenly) cared too much about what smarks would think/say, so they did this whole "we are the VPs of AEW but we swear we wont put ourselves over" storylines, and by the time they finally gave the belt to Kenny in 2021, his body really was too shitty for all the bangerinos/pandering meltzer 5* stars matches, he had a shoulder injury and he couldn't lift weights properly, even tho it was the belt collector he had an ok run but it could've been 200% better if Kenny was healthy or if they had done it earlier. I remember that sad clip when Omega is on TNA and he had to do a run-in to the ring and he could barely run because of the pain he was feeling back then.

Hell, I can't believe they even did a losing streak with Kenny "the best bout machine" Omega , what were they thinking?

I understand that he has a "comedy side" to his wrestling, but man it really didn't translate well into the product. It's such a weird tonal shift to what people were expecting from Kenny as a world champ that I suspected the gimmick was meant to be a shot at someone in the industry. Either way, it blew chunks and killed a lot of the hype for him as the top guy.

Look, it was good for the cameras but it sucked. Most of the matches save for like two were even noteworthy. Combine that with the fact that the AEW belt was seeing some turbulence itself and the belts were devalued, moreso the AAA and Impact titles. It wasn't until the Christian match where the Belt Collecter gimmick was killed and the AEW title picture FINALLY got more interesting and Kenny got some actual fresh challengers.

Kenny changed the business. He changed the wrestling world and in result dronies are just mad that wwe has actual competition in the states rn, money and wrestling flavor wise. Kenny actually got marks so invested in wrestling that they hold a grudge against him, and these marks keep crying and making up headcanon about grooming and pedoshit. How pathetic it that?

It's funny how every time I open up this board I see dronies and other degenerates seething about THE GOAT never going to wwe. If he did then what?

>Kenny vs. Roman
Kenny could carry him into a decent match but it's just Roman Reigns so who fucking cares lol

could be ok but no loss here
>Kenny vs Cody

>Kenny vs Punk
bet the match would never even happen bc punk is made of fucking glass
>Kenny vs Lesnar
this would be a fucking classic no lie. he's the only guy talented enough to match his level of power, athleticism and in-ring psychology

Yeah, any intellectual knows he's been just fine with AEW and the overall chain reaction he created is more important then the WWE Cleaner run utopia. Sorry you didn't get to feel the Kenny Omega touch tho.

By doing what? He didn't prove that a gaijin wrestler can get over in Japan because guys like Stan Hanson already proved that long before Kenny set foot in a ring. He didn't innovate anything. All he did was sawdust himself and prance around like a faggot and he wasn't even particularly good at that. A week after Kenny retires even his biggest fans will forget he ever existed.

Yes, it's irrelevant. When you compare things, you need to compare them ceteris paribus, because if you don't, then you may actually just be measuring another hidden variable. In your case, you are measuring the fact that Network TV is in more homes than cable, and then pretending the real cause is that NXT suddenly got dramatically more popular overnight when it moved to CW. It didn't. It's because of Network TV.
BTW if AEW was also on Network TV, then it would have much higher average ratings than current NXT.

>CW has far less active viewers than TBS does.
This statistic is not important. You are taking an average statistic across all CW content and then saying it also applies to NXT. What if it doesn't? What if NXT's viewers are the result of active WWE fans who don't usually watch CW, plus the additional passive background CW viewers who exist at a lower level than they do for TBS? That would explain both NXT's viewers being higher than they were on cable, and also CW content having less average viewers across all shows than TBS.

Your low IQ ass is trying so hard to sound smart holy fuck lol. Your cope is that network TV is more popular than cable, but in this case a cable station(TBS) is more popular than a network channel(CW). Dynamite has the advantage of being on a far more watched station than CW and yet it loses badly to NXT which has a large disadvantage. Quite humiliating for AEW I must say.

At least you admit that's the only reason you post them is because you're upset by AEW and want to cope about it by using statistics that you don't understand. You don't actually care about the truth, you just want to have some cope comfort blanket against AEW. I won't stop you. Lol.

Kenny made a point of bailing out of every remotely professional wrestling company that ever hired him and tried to tell him what to do, until he went to Japan
NJPW was more than happy to have their entire generation of wrestlers at the time destroy their bodies for their big international push that went nowhere
Then he went to AEW where it's basically the same shit while his friends there also pride themselves on not listening to anything veterans have to say
