I watched Street Fighter in the theaters for my birthday as a little Jimmy and left the theater SEETHING. A decade later as an adult I watched it and laughed every few minutes because it was pure nectar. 8 year old me was too dumb to appreciate it, adult me loved it. Hell the definition of classical is "that which endures," and Street Fighter did endure. Mortal Kombat is only remembered for it's theme song (which is an absolute banger no cap).
