I'd actually be more for that. Most NXT guys back then got pushed heavily once they went on the main roster, Owens, Seth, Roman, Sami (somewhat), Balor, Charlotte and so on. Now NXT guys and girls are going to the main roster straight to the low/mid-card or do nothing at all of note. They still have so many people on the roster who get zero reactions whatsoever. They actually have great talent in NXT, but become shit asap because of the horrible booking on the main. They should let Shawn book Smackdown for a period of time and see how that turns out.

The main event scene is grim when they're all healthy but the midcard is great, time to move Gunther even further, Gable, Drew, LA Knight while they can still go, pick one of them to interact with Cena, and have Fatu and Bron in the mix, move up a couple guys from NXT and have them interact with them.
Push Vaquer and Giulia at the center of the women division, put Becky and Lyra with Kairi twice a week in three ways dark matches until the inevitable happens
Limit shows to two hours, create a fourth show 4 hours long to park all the tired shitters and the antidraws, then cancel it and fire them
And there you go, WWE is watchable again
