Comparing this to Lawler and Kaufman is LAUGHABLE. Back then Kayfabe was still very much alive and Kaufman entire gimmick was being the absolute king of not breaking Kayfabe. A very large portion of people though or was under the impression profession wrestling was a shoot real sport.

Everyone and their dog knows pro wrestling isn’t “real” now. Doing stuff like this is just stupid and cringe, specially when pro wrestling is still very much laughed at by the average non wrestling watcher.

Problem is WWE going out of their way to constantly tell the world how fake it is, and how they're all good friends, and the 'superstars' are just meatsacks fed lines by pencil neck geeks. Stuff like this only works if wrestlers maintain kayfabe. Now it makes them look like a tryhard joke.
