I see injuries like this all the time. They're super common in the elderly, just usually they're hidden from families who never come see them or talk to them anyway.
Typically it's something like a fall in the bathroom, hitting the edge of the sink, or falling in a shower. There are a lot of problems with the stationary shower chairs a lot of these people use slipping and sending them tumbling.
Getting on and off of the toilet can be dangerous for a certain kind of person with a certain kind of injuries, and one of these falls can literally break a hip, send them into pneumonia and kill them very easily.
People are also extremely weakened physically after chemotherapy.
