First show ever in the UK. They had an entire untapped market of fans who never had a chance to see those guys live and in person before. That alone is going to do a huge number. There was a shit ton of hype still around the company as well. Even the second year did a solid number truthfully. The 40-50k wasn't as big of course but even despite all of the drama and goodwill lost over that year they still did a great job putting together stories and matches with heat behind them. Last year's actually felt more like Mania than the actual Wrestlemania. This year's though was a complete dumpster fire. Maybe two or three matches had stories that weren't just thrown together weeks before the show. Beyond the main event there was no heat behind anything going on. Glad people liked it I guess. I thought for the most part it sucked. And yeah to drop all the way down 50% of the previous year's attendance is bleak as hell

By doing only 1 show in UK/Europe for the year and putting tickets on sale for close to a year but also giving away probably half of them for free

not being funny mania 2 nights would do 90K each night Wembley holds 90K fully seated and with floor space added they could do 100k but easily jobsworth safety cunts would never allow that to happen

It was the first wrestling show in Wembley since 92. People went just to go. They didn't specifically go because it was aew. Wwe would have gotten the same attendance, a but less because of the price difference. TNA probably would have even done well there.

72k is the turnstile count on the day of the show, the number of people who showed up day of.
81,035 is the number of paid tickets they sold to the show. A drop rate of 9-10% of ticket sold but not utilized is pretty standard for a large scale event like that.
AEW took home money for 81,035 tickets sold, regardless of the turnstile count. They got paid for every one of those tickets sold even when 72,000 turn up

Translation: Tony’s dad bought 9000 more tickets than they were able to give away.

>TNA probably would have even done well there.
lmao are you retarded? the highest attendance TNA ever drew in the UK was less than 10000, a decade ago.

Did you know TNA never drew more than 9,600 fans in the UK?
The amount of tickets AEW had to throw away form their show was about the same as TNA's largest ever house they drew in the UK

And they would do even less nowadays
Back then they had buzz and support in the UK.
In fact the UK was TNA's #1 market for years
Their TV and house shows always drew better there than the USA.
not anymore tho
