Your burying the real headline in this which is that Meltzer thinks Seth is supposed to work an injury that they tried to pass off as a shoot, but the reason they're doing it like this is that he really is injured and needed a month or so off, so they used his shoot injury to work a fake injury that they're trying to work as a shoot injury.

Seth doesn't need to do this. Punk and Gunther will be looking over their shoulder during their match because of Seth's group in the first place. Punk has too much history and beef with Seth's group and Gunther is going to get caught in the crossfire, so its dumb to have them just think everything is A-OK now. This would only work if Seth was solo.

Again, what's the issue with it? Happens all the time except usually they use a beatdown segment to write somebody for with an injury. WWE using their rare time on network TV to highlight a "shoot" injury to Seth to as big an audience as possible in the lead up to his shocking return/cash-in at SummerSlam makes sense to me. It's stupid and I wouldn't do it but it's 2025 and they're trying to do a surprise angle in pro wrestling.

Dave's entire hypothesis is that Rollins had a shoot injury, and for some reason WWE did not want to reveal that. So their solution to this was to work an injury, and then present the worked injury as a shoot injury, so no one would know Rollins had a shoot injury, they would think he had a... shoot injury
