this was when vince was purposely making wwe as bad as possible to make sure AEW would take off successfully.

it was a promotional tie in for Dwayne's movie Red Notice, IIRC the storyline was that Austin creed stole it, then admitted he did it to get noticed, and it kick started the whole 'Austin Creed is Vince's chosen one' storyline.

the lore was that vince’s cronies (unnamed, and unspecified) found the egg between a show in vegas and Colorado , which implies they may have stolen it from area 51 or found it in the desert from aliens.

vince then presented it to his wrestlers, austin theory stole it, and then he admitted it was him and vince took him under his wing.

it was “coincidentally” times with theory going HUGE on the gear. the egg was a kayfabe way to explain theory getting juiced up, basically.

The rock and Netflix gave Vince an egg to promote their movie- Vince took a fixation to it and was deeply saddened when it was lost- he offered an unnamed reward to whomever found it and it so happened to be Austin theory- who Vince then became so enamored with he named him his chosen one and pretty much the unofficial heir to his company- using his typical McMahon schemes and tactics to artificially promote him as the top guy and future world champion

The egg was a prop from a netflix movie the WWE was shilling IIRC. But it was just a plot device in the end, for Vince to encounter Austin Theory (who stole the egg to take a photo of himself holding it to post online) and hook up as far as Vince being impressed with Theory having the balls to steal the egg from Vince.

austin theory dropped the ball in this storyline.

They wanted the Rock to come on the show.
He didn't, but they sent a prop from a movie he was in on Netflix so WWE could advertise it instead and be like "s-s-see, we're still liked by the Rock. He sent this".
They tried to spin a small angle out of it just to try and give one Vince chosen guy a push up the card.
