If Hogan was getting booed in recent years every time he appeared or whenever his name was mentioned in front of a WWE crowd....then how the fuck is a live tribute even possible?
If the crowds wanted to boo him when they saw him or heard his name before he died, then why the fuck would they give a favorable reaction to him after his death during a tribute?
How is WWE going to pull this off? Piped-in cheers and muting the boos?

In all seriousness, I think what's most likely gonna happen is the majority (80%-90%) of the crowd will cheer throughout the tribute
Some will be genuine cheers from Hogan fans, some will be respectful cheers from fans who personally didn't care for the man behind the Hogan character, but respect his legacy and what he did for the business
The other 10%-20% will be boos from his more extreme haters, and they may or may not get tired of booing at some point once they realize they're in the minority

Call me naive, fuck, maybe I really am
But I truly think that for one night - a tribute night at that - even most libs in the WWE crowd who dislike Hogan won't boo
At worst they might refuse to cheer or take a long piss break during the main tribute part, but they won't boo (besides maybe a few dozen extra-edgy ones who'll be drowned out)

So the real question is, even if it gets booed, so what?
What the fuck will WWE say? "Sorry, show's cancelled"? Lol. They're more eager for money now than ever. Worst that'd happen is they'd just never book another show there or whatever. Otherwise they ain't gonna do shit, neither are the wrestlers. Not Cody, Cena, Roman, or WHO-the-fuck-ever. They'll all still perform and do their job anyway. Not that they'll be "performing" since all they do now is just give increasingly mediocre and boring promos and then like a 2 minute action segment or some shit when it ends.

A top wrestling personality would have to either die/be crippled in some preventable way or be exposed for a major crime, in order to beat out a Hogan live tribute being booed
Cena would have to be caught with cp or something

This does not matter they will still do a tribute show to him because they kind of have no choice but to. This would be the equivalent of not paying tribute to the main character in just about any vidya game, pretending like Ozzy wasn't the draw of Black Sabbath, disregarding the importance of Mickey Mouse from Disney and so on. To not do a tribute show to him would be absolutely insane. Its not like he killed anyone like Benoit did. Plus Hogan meant more to WWE then just about anyone else but Vince and his family themselves.

People need to remember two things about this tribute show:
1. Hogan wasn't on the active roster when he died, so it's not gonna be like the Owen and Eddie tribute shows where the entire night is centered around them, complete with tons of recorded individual backstage tributes and in-ring promos dedicated to the deceased
And 2.....Hogan, as huge as he was in his time, as influential as he and his legacy was to the business.....his time was still before the time of a lot of the wrestlers on the current roster
Hogan was a big deal as an active-roster wrestler back in the 80s and 90s; some of these guys weren't even born yet
Even when he wrestled sporadically in the early 2000s, he was officially "that old legend" status by then and the kids around that era connected more to younger guys like Austin, Rock, Cena, etc. So they're not gonna feel all that personally connected to him even though they're aware of his importance in the history of the business
Some of them probably dislike him for his recent chud ways, but even besides that the main issue is he simply was too far before their time for them to feel as passionate about him as the older guys do
So yeah, they're gonna stand out there and go through the motions for the most part

Anyone who's sensible knows he can't be fully celebrated because of how fucked he made his own legacy. The best that could happen was doing the tribute simply out of courtesy of his accomplishments, which is what happened. But if he actually killed someone or went nuts like Benoit did, you bet your ass no one would want that tribute.
Even as much as they'd like to offer up those words of praise, everyone in the business knew how murky Hogan was. It's not a matter of being before their time. How many current wrestlers still mark out for Bret, Roddy, Warrior, Austin, Randy and so on? It's always about how the current image is received.
