There is a reason why Shawn was flopping and selling like a cartoon in that match.
He got out politicked by a real OG carny shark in the Hulkster.

Situation is a bit different, Shawn wanted three matches and one win, fairly late in his career, out of the title picture, Hogan said "doesn't work for me brother" and so Shawn sold like an ape, which was really funny
Meanwhile Bret was in the middle of a big push, Hulk shows up out of nowhere, says "how about I beat everybody and get the belt then go film thunder in paradise? Thanks brother, I'll be sure to not repay the favor ever"

>I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. It was 1992, and the situation in Yugoslavia was rapidly deteriorating, with tensions escalating into a brutal civil war... I also took an interest in global affairs and humanitarian issues. So, I decided to broach the subject with Hogan, hoping to get his perspective on the grave situation at hand.
>I cleared my throat, and Hogan, busy piling more buttered buns onto his plate, barely glanced my way. His trademark blonde mustache twitched as he let out a booming laugh, his blue eyes twinkling with self-assurance.
>"Hey there, brother, what's on your mind?"
>I took a deep breath, feeling a mixture of apprehension and curiosity. "I was just wondering, Hogan," I began tentatively, "if you had any thoughts on the situation in Yugoslavia that's unfolding."
>Hogan paused for a moment, a buttered bun halfway to his mouth, and looked at me with a bemused grin. He seemed unfazed by the gravity of the situation, as if the world outside the wrestling ring was a distant concern.
>"As long as they got some Hulkamaniacs, they'll be okay, brother," he said with a chuckle, as if he was talking about a wrestling match rather than a war.
>I was taken aback by his response. It was clear that Hogan didn't grasp the magnitude of the crisis or the complexities of the geopolitical situation in the Balkans. But then again, Hogan was never one for deep thoughts or nuanced analysis. He was all about the showmanship, the spectacle, and the larger-than-life persona that captivated millions of wrestling fans around the world.

This is exactly why I'm always quick to believe anything that Bret says
It's like he has a Tourette's version of telling the truth, even maybe when he shouldn't. Probably exactly why he wasn't quick to make a statement on Hogan's death
Bret has said some things before about himself and his family that weren't positive but he still said them in the name of truth, e.g. his drug use and cheating on his wife
He's also randomly praised people that he hated the most, sometimes even while shitting on them. Hogan is a great example: he once evaluated Hogan as a wrestler, and gave him a 2/10 for in-ring skills. Sounds like bitter Bret hate, right? Except his overall rating system also includes appearance and promo skills, and he gave Hogan a 10/10 on both, thereby giving Hogan an overall wrestler rating of 22/30, which is not bad at all
For comparison, Bret rated himself 7/10 for looks, 5/10 for promo and 9/10 for in-ring skills, giving himself an overall of 21/30....less than Hogan
