Austin was never on Hogan's level. His prime lasted, what, like two years? Hogan was the face of professional wrestling for over a decade.

Wrestling is not a sport. And no, he didn't. People do not think of him as anything other than a wrestler. Had he transcended this he wouldn't have been living his final years fully costumed 24/7 in a gimmick half a century old like every other convention jabroni

Everyone STILL wears nWo shirts to this day. Not one damn Austin shirt, and even during the time, it was more nWo shirts than Austin's cringe catchphrase shirts. PPV buyrates are not 100% credited to Austin, but if they are, then EVERY buyrate for ALL PPVs are Hogans, since he brought everyone into Wrestling for the second boom, after he did it the FIRST TIME. Austin was nothing, when the nWo was getting started, and finally became something once the nWo storyline ran out of gas. Coattail riding doesnt count as a draw.

Oh so now it's "made the most money FOR THE COMPANY", whereas before you said "drew the most money". Austin didn't draw more than Hogan. For WWF? Possibly. But you factor in Hogans WWF+Japan+NWO+WWE run? No way, Hogan drew more.

Then it's WWF+WCW+WWE vs Austin's 5 year run on top in WWF? Hogan wins hands down.

Hogan kickstarted two boom periods of wrestling. Hogan and Austin were the top faces of their era but Hogan was a huge deal as the top heel while Austin's turn killed the business, all so he could be a mark and wanted to do a heel run. Both are top tier but Hogan did so much more for the business and even gave back to it far more than Austin did.

Why doesn't it feel true? Hogan was a top guy for 15 years, Austin 5 (but more like 4).

Both encapsulate their era perfectly. Hogan was the proud American hero, a cartoon character, to fit the colorful and goofy WWF. Austin was the foul mouthed ass kicker fighting his boss and the machine against him.

Bitching and moaning aside, it's pretty amazing that wrestling had two guys who fit exactly what the fans wanted at the right time. Who were so fucking dimes that neither could be denied. We're never gonna have guys this over again.

It really does genuinely disgust me that people cheer for Roman now after rejecting him for over a decade.
People say that being the "cool heel" is wrong except that's exactly what they did with him and they liked it, but suddenly we can't do that for Cena because then he wouldn't be a "heel".
Make it make sense.

Both were great performers that gave the world hundreds of hours of entertainment, went the extra mile for their fans, and are both more watchable than any of the dimeless "superstars" in the Fed today. It's a testament to their talent that you can watch any of their old matches and still be entertained. Classic Era Hulk and Attitude Era Steve are both timeless. Most importantly, both have/had a reputation of being nice guys to fans irl, regardless of whatever personal problems they may have had.

Austin was on TV every week while fans would see Hogan a handful of times a year on SNME, PPV, and maybe a house show every so often. Comparing the two is completely pointless because the industry was a television industry in the late 90s and a live event industry in the 80s. Iโ€™m sure that wonโ€™t stop you bumbling fucking retards from screeching endlessly though.
