I’m going to have to sign back up for NJPW World later this weekend. I miss watching New Japan and just because they’re not in a “boom period” doesn’t mean there’s not a lot of quality matches and athleticism being displayed for me to enjoy. Yeah, I think I will. This match (I know it's a four-way, but the start was just an appetizer, let's be real) is easily in my top 3 for the "G1." So good.

Yeah, he's huge, and I agree that big fuckoff moves suits his look, but his grappling is insanely strong and heavily underutilized in NJPW. My favorite match of his is the match against Kaito from last year's N-1 and that was basically just him working a headlock for 30 minutes.

I'm an AJPW guy at the end of the day and I think everybody should cultivate multiple big moves that can end matches. You don't have to do them all the time and shouldn't really but they should always be loaded in the chamber, for the sake of match variety.
>>18424224Really good points. I like the Ark Clutch and I do think it's a believable finisher with arm work to back it up. The issue with the multiple finishers thing (which I agree is the best, and one of my favorite parts about peak AJPW/NOAH) is that NJPW flatout just doesn't do that. Every guy has one finisher, sometimes one submission maybe one signature rollup, and as soon as they get a pin with something new the old one is immediately replaced. Shingo's Burning Dragon is a great example of that.
