I don't know, people thought a Hogan heel turn would be retarded but it made sense given Hogan's stature in relation to the rest of the WCW roster.
I thought Saya Kamitani's heel turn was retarded at first. She genuinely seems like a sweet person and a bit autistic. Yet now she's one of the best heels in the business.
It would completely depend on Mayu's ability to pull it off. Which, if she couldn't, would kind of hurt her status as "best women's wrestler in the world" in my book because a good wrestler should be able to work face and heel.
