Though unlike street fighter 1 this game is deep and playable, it still is largely forgotten compared to its subsequent releases. It remained one of if not the best wrestling game on Playstation until smackdown 1 was released in 2000. The roster, once decoded, was deep and WCW/NWO tier, the game allowed belt creation, tourney and league modes, 8 league challenges and unlockable characters, but it lacked even tag team matches and offered only 1v1 game modes. I've been replaying and I really enjoy the gameplay, but it is brutally mogged by the subsequent releases. Any other anons have memories of WCW vs The world on PSX?

War Zone was trash, I mean I played the hell out of it because I was a WWF mark but it was a flawed game. Matches were not fun to play. You had to do ridiculous combinations to hit finishers. Also you forgot to mention the topless code you could do with GameShark.

When it came out we already I already had wcw/nwo world tour which was the main game me and my middle school friends played. War zone had better graphics, stone cold/bret hart/Taker and also had 4 person matches/cage matches and character creation. War zone, out of the acclaim games(attitude/ecw games) played the best. You had to memorize moves, but after playing it a little it wasn't anymore complicated than playing street fighter 2 and we all picked up on it. Because of the character creation we played it incessantly until revenge came out. Attitude is the one that disappointed because everyone assumed they would improve on War zone, instead it felt worse to play and it's only upgrade was stocking the game with the WWF undercard. War zone, in its time, was a pretty good game, they just never improved on it. By the time AKI got the WWF license it was over, mania 2000 having belts and character creator with the engine it mogged everything else

All I remember was that it sucked ass and was an unmitigated piece of shit game. The camera, the controls, the graphics, the everything. WCW Mayhem was TEN times better and it all got blown out ot the water by the time the Smackdown series took off.

I liked warzone, when it was out it was doing some shit unique to wrestling games and the inputs for moves weren't even complicated. Attitude didn't improve anything in the game though. I'm gonna play it when I get home

What i don't understand is why it took so long for Acclaim to finally stop making wrestling games. they fucked up over and over and over and over and over but still kept getting employed to make games. The only really good one they ever did was WM: The Arcade Game and even that had some issues.
