WWE new espn deal
Why did Netflix miss out? They could have gotten everything WWE.

They got outbid. ESPN is making a big push for their DTC service and need something other than their usual programming to make a splash.

It was never on the table when they negotiated with Netflix because
>1) the rights were with Peacock at the time
>2) ESPN and WWE were negotiating before this for the entire network and had probably worked out the framework for this to happen so it was never offered to Netflix.
Under Nick WWE is trying to not devote their content to one platform.

How could they let themselves get out bid

It's called "diversifying your assets". It's why the Khan Family has a dozen shell companies including AEW. It's how you hide money from the US.gov

Seems like they massively overpaid. How many PLEs does WWE event do a year? I know there the big 5 are going to two nights but I don’t see why they will pay that much for like 10-12 PLE’s.

The only way WWE makes money is through rights deals, and the more rights deals, the more money.
In the future, expect each PLE to be auctioned off to streaming services individually.
