MELTZER WON: Kross contract situation a possible "work"
WWE fans have been on edge this week after reports surfaced that Karrion Kross and Scarlett’s contracts are expiring this weekend — and they haven’t been used on TV. But according to Dave Meltzer, the story might not be as straightforward as it seems.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer suggested the current situation feels orchestrated — similar to R-Truth’s “exit and return” earlier this year — especially since WWE recently promoted Kross’ book and Paul Heyman publicly praised him.

>“I think the Karrion Kross thing smells like an angle… They plugged his book and then Paul Heyman today on Ariel Helwani’s show talked about him being like this new Steve Austin, so it’s like he ain’t going anywhere.”

While the original report from Fightful Select claimed WWE had yet to offer Kross a new contract, Meltzer says that part might already be outdated.

>“I was told the story about him not being signed to a contract — I heard that is legit — but he did get an offer. Maybe when the story that he didn’t get an offer was written it was accurate, but I was told he’s gotten an offer and I don’t expect him going anywhere.”

Meltzer even theorized that WWE may be intentionally stirring up contract speculation to fuel storyline intrigue, just like they allegedly did with R-Truth earlier this year.

>“It was almost like the way this whole thing went down that I was thinking the R-Truth thing was a shoot and it did so well that it’s like maybe we can work everyone with another R-Truth story… They’re gonna work and work and work because they think that’s the deal. People got mad at me for even suggesting this, but the amount of distrust that will be there six months from now is pretty damn high.”

Whether it’s a storyline or a real contract lapse, one thing is clear — WWE’s handling of Kross and Scarlett is keeping everyone guessing.

This. Fuck me with fans and their adhd booking these days, they always need something to "revolt" and demand change over, even if it's some shitter like Kross who never had good matches and just proved it again during the Sami feud.

It's bad everywhere, I'm seeing people using it for replies on Twitter & IG. Don't even understand why you go out of your way to type in whatever prompt instead of ya know, just typing the whole thing out yourself.

It's definitely a work but I don't see how he's going to work as a face. He seems likeable away from the ring but I don't see it happening for him on TV. Is it going to be one of those situations where the crowd move on pretty quickly and starts saying "he just works better as a heel!" Whatever happens I see a genuine release in 12-18 months.

Why is he comparing it to R-Truth when he was very adamant that was not a work or storyline? Does Dave think everyone in his audience has dementia like him?
