Jake Hager Announces Retirement from Pro Wrestling
Jake Hager is officially done with pro wrestling — and he’s not looking back.
During a recent episode of the Rule Breakers with Sayara podcast, the former WWE and AEW star confirmed that he’s retired from the ring and has already pivoted into life as a full-time entrepreneur.
In a laid-back conversation, Hager opened up about this new chapter, revealing he’s now running a trucking company based in Tampa, Florida. When asked what he’s up to these days, Hager casually broke the news: “I’m getting out of wrestling. I pretty much—I could say I’m retired from it.”
He followed up by sharing details on his new business venture: “I started a trucking company and so… running routes through Tampa and Florida. I’m not driving—got people driving. But yeah, I’m excited. Something to stick my teeth into. Hard work always pays off.”
And in true Hager fashion, the company name has a little twist: “The name of it is Hauling Oats.”
He laughed as he explained the play on words, making it clear he’s having fun with the transition away from the ring.
Hager made his name in WWE as Jack Swagger, where he won the World Heavyweight Championship, ECW Championship, and the United States Title. Known for his amateur wrestling background and “We The People” catchphrase, he eventually made his way to AEW in 2019 as part of Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle stable. He also maintained a legitimate MMA career with Bellator, going undefeated in his first few fights.
Now, Hager says he’s putting his energy into building something new — far from the ropes and steel cages that once defined his career. There’s no sign of regret, either. The former pro wrestler seems completely content trading body slams for logistics routes.
