Most wrestling storylines were like this since forever, people like to claim that in the 00s and 90s the storylines were good but if you watch any promotion from back then (WWE, WCW, AJPW e.t.c.) then you will see that 80% of all wrestling storylines are lame and get nowhere at all.

Austin-Rock at WM17 gets lauded because of the "My Way" video but if people were actually watching at the time, they saw weeks of "Who's corner is Debra going to be in?" and time wasting until that last week. But the music video and match were so good it made people forget.
