Marco-Pierre White was insanely over and he didn't even need TV.
He still strikes fear in the hearts of all chefs, amateurs and professionals alike.
But when you catch him teaching a noob, he's the single most patient and informative wise man you can have.
Two of his videos taught me how to cook meat properly and how to make a sauce. Not by showing the time it takes, but by explaining exactly what's going on in the pan, that you need to cook gently so the contact of the meat doesn't scorch and give you cancer, and that tomato loses acidity with time and when you put them together you need to reduce the water contents so the sauce thickens naturally and then you add butter after that so it doesn't burn through the reduction.
Nobody gets the cooking business quite like him.
He even packed his bags and dropped 2 Michelin titles, because in his experience, cooking for wannabe kings and queens who disrespected him made him lose his smile.

I can't think of any 1 wrestler of the same period (mid 90s through 2004) who shares the traits of this enigma.

I was a sous chef for a pretty well known restaurant a couple of years ago. Chef was a little high strung but a good leader. One night we gave a full house and we get word theres an 8 top and it’s a bunch of the New York Yankees. They each order steaks, medium rare, and our meat guy loses it. He starts blubbering and Chef pulls out his gun.
“You want me to blow my brains out? Becuase if you fuck this up and get my ass fired, I’m doing it.”
Meat guy locked back in and knocked out 8 perfect steaks.
