what we are seeing today is the creation of a second layer of kayfabe by WWE, we all know the traditional kayfabe where the on-screen stories we see on TV happen, but this one is where even the supposed backstage rumors and "shoot" interviews of wrestlers acting outside of their gimmick still working the audience in some way, its appears to be their counter to the dirtsheets by muddling everything and making people unsure of what is real or fake
