Every aspect of this Cena turn has been embarrassing. The turn itself had no driving force. The people involved didn't actually give a shit. Cena's heel motivation made no sense because he was getting cheered unilaterally now. His opponents had no reason to fight him except "Hey, you're a bad guy now, but I'm a good guy!" Cody looked like a complete fucking dork at all times. Everyone secondarily or tangentially involved like R-Truth has come off like a dumbass, and now they've decided the best way out of it is to do a *wink wink nudge nudge* "Boy that sure did suck didn't it haha. If he were booked properly he would've been wreaking utter havoc, just ruining matches of those he hates left and right and sabotaging Cena at every turn because Cena got him kayfabe fired. Should've been something personal. And if someone says "But he's too old to hold the title!!!!!" I don't care, but at the most I'd ask him how his body feels and if he admits he can't do it, go out to the fans and thank them for the praise and support but he knows he can't do it much longer and relinquish the title. It's amazing to me that out of the 3 fully-black wrestlers that WWE decided were worthy enough to hold the WWE championship (Lashley, Kofi and Big E), only one of them was actually deserving of it (Lashley)
And yet they refused to allow more worthy black wrestlers like Booker T or 'Hall of Pain' Mark Henry to hold it
And now the same thing is happening to R-Truth. Now, do I generally believe that Truth is worthy of being WWE champion? No.
HOWEVER:
We are past the point of 'worthy' wrestlers holding that belt. If one-half of the APA can be suddenly thrown in a suit then given the belt, or if an indian jobber can be skyrocketed to the main event within a couple of weeks to be given the belt, or if two twerking midcard niggas can be given the belt.....then there's no excuse at this point to not give Truth a chance
Truth has put in many years in the company (same excuse that was given for Kofi winning it). He's a fan favorite and usually gets great crowd reactions
But most importantly: Truth was WWE's best realistic chance of salvaging Cena's shitty heel turn
They could have given Truth a transitional title run where he beats heel Cena (not necessarily clean) as a more serious face, then Cena goes full-retard heel and does every heel shit in the book to eventually get his belt back. Then we could have a fully-heel Cena against Cody, Punk, Brock, etc.
