G1 is so fucking dimeless it’s unbelievable.
>Takeshita vs Finlay winner faces ZSJ and Tsuji vs Shota winner faces Evil

evil is an anti draw and no shit, they are wrestling in half filled gyms with like 40 people watching because their top "star" is a huge faggot named evil

ZSJ makes everything he touches dimeless

There’s an NJPW general? Why the fuck would I ever go in there??

Okada really screwed them over when he left

Finlay is such an embarrassing shitter. ZSJ too. How the fuck did these dorks get a push?
Anonymous No.18534050
Tsuji and Shota are not a draw. I don't want to see either of these shitters in the finals.

Meh. Him leaving hurt, sure - but also NJPW failed to create new stars while him and Naito where still there. At least "stars" that the crowd took to.

It's not nearly as bad in WWE, because they have potential "big" stars in Bron, Jacob, and Dom, but they have the same problem with an ageing main-event scene and Roman works one of the most baffling schedules ever in wrestling history.

Exactly, generals are for cucks who lack the balls to post on the main catalog like real men
They admittedly make sense on boards where there is a huge variety of niche interests but don't really work with /pw/'s single-fire shitpost culture.

I was trying to explain it in a way that would make sense to someone who doesn't watch NJPW.

I also put more blame on NJPW for not creating new stars, so I don't know how that makes me a "nujatard". They thought Okada and Naito would be around forever so they kept kicking the can down the road until one day both were gone. That's why ZSJ and Goto had runs with the title because who's left?

I've only watched 1 ZSJ match and I was disappointed. It was his match with Danielson at one of AEW's PPVs last year, in fact I watched the whole PPV just for that match really. I'm British and I watched a lot of those old tapes with my dad growing up. From what I'd heard of ZSJ, vs an opponent like Danielson, I was expecting a 25 minute World of Sport style classic. What I got was about 8 minutes of grappling which then just devolved into generic sports entertainment for the remainder of the match.

ZSJ has the most boring and fake looking style of wrestling in the world currently. Unironically more cooperative than young cucks matches.

Takeshita is the only winner that wouldn't suck, and he's not even part of the company, now that is dire and grim

Okada had been a top star for well over a decade. If his departure hurts them that much after that long then it's because they have failed to build stars.

He wasn't wrong though. Cody is old. Knight is Old. Cena is old. Brock is old. Roman is barely here and jobbing lately. They're feeding most actual legitimate looking guys to Cody because he can never lose so no stars get created. This didn't read like deflection at all.

When I watched the G1 last year this potential match up was always in my mind. It sounded perfect, both have similar styles where they flow from one submission to the next, and I figured they'd have good synergy. On paper it sounded amazing, but what we got was kind of meh

WWE had more 5 star matches at Summerslop than the G1 has had, which used to produce a 5 star match almost every day just a few years ago, fucking grim

Easy trap to fall into, really. I had stopped watching pro-wrestling on a regular basis around 2004. I was looking to get back into it around 2018. Look up what's good, got into the matches for the few years prior to that. Rode the hype train watching shows as they came going into 2019, which was still pretty decent and way better than anything else I was seeing. The rest was just hope that it would get better after the pandemic... but it didn't.

The G1 has been dimeless since the pandemic. NJPW's 2012-2019 roster was so incredible and we all knew the Golden Age wouldn't last forever, but NJPW fell off so bad it's depressing.
