Back then there wasn't much of a way for consumers (parents buying games for their kids) to know about the warranty stuff. I bought my copy from a flee market. It wasn't until I was in a gamestop where I brought it up to a nerd at the counter that he told me about it. He didn't mention it could get mailed in, but he did tell me how to avoid getting the file erased. The main cause was using CAWs in story mode. My brother and I were so autistic that we would one time erased the file on purpose to do the insanely large CAW stuff. We didn't even know that no mercy was the last of several games made in the same engine, so there was a ton of carryover content. I've heard from many that No Mercy isn't the best aki game but it was definitely the most fun I've had playing a wrestling game, but also the most fun I've had playing a fighting game.
