Putting it this way makes sense. AEW is the only company that can be a legitimate thorn in WWE's side. They're not competition in the sense that AEW is nowhere as big as WWE, but because Tony has so much money, he can offer tons of money to wrestlers WWE would like to have. Other companies can't afford to bring these people in at these prices and draw such abysmal ratings, but Tony can keep it going as long as he wants. The only way to stop him is to make sure he can't get a good TV deal. So give every other media company a piece of WWE and become their exclusive wrestling partner, help TNA get a new TV deal on a big channel, and do everything you can to minimize AEW's success so hopefully WBD, which is failing badly, won't give them a new deal.

Yeah, it's a dirty business tactic that many promoters have done probably since the beginning of wrestling. It is just not in WWE's interest to let AEW get more popular and grow. AEW has run against WWE before as well.

AEW just needs to do what they should be doing already - putting out the best show they can so people will watch them and talk about them over WWE. AEW should also do stuff like hiring wrestlers who don't look like they work at the 7-11, get Tony away from creative, stop booking for smarks, get a hold of their fanbase who takes it personally when you rip the show and develop their own stars.
