Why isnt there a regular discussion or general about current wrestling video games on here? Do these games suck or something? I see more regular threads about TEW. I was curious if this was any good. Haven't played a WWE game in a decade and a half.

I already told you: the allure of WWE2K is the creation suite. Pro wrestling games have been expected to have such since the days of the N64 AKI wrestling games. WWE2K has a robust creation suite and the community built around that put out hundreds of high-quality CAWs along with created arenas and belts. This allows players to build their own rosters and play their own way, including using nothing but created content from other time periods and other promotions, including AEW. I would bet that most AEW fans that play wrestling games actually play WWE2K. They just use AEW CAWs, of which there are a ton.

Anon, "core gameplay" doesn't refer solely to the grappling system. As this guy >>18545056 pointed out, the AI is terrible so you're not really seeing the benefits of the grappling system unless you're playing against another person. And since the game is dead online, you can't even do that. The grappling system itself shows a lot of promise if this series keeps going or breaks from AEW and goes unlicensed. But the game that shipped did not feel like a finished product, and it absolutely was not a good game.

The base game works fine for me, it's just the updates that had a virus.

i got them for making buddies in the character creator and then video sharing them beating the shit out of one another to said buddies.

apart from that, nah, these games aren't really worth. They did get better in 2k22 after the shitfest that was 2k20, but from there, it's gotten downhill.

The biggest issue to me is probably the way the career mode (MyRise) feels so fucking railroaded. In 2k22, you were depicted as a new guy just joining the Big Dub from the Indies but then later iterations were just "you're THE guy" and im not here to get it handed to me, i wanna work to be "THE guy"

The PWmods community for WWE 2k mods on PC is filled with actual bisexuals/queers/aewtists that get very upset on their discord if you aren't like them
Plus the ego of current WWE modders thinking their work is god's greatest gift so they start charging a patreon subscription to get some dumb kip sabian mod

I've loved wrestling games for a long time. My first 2K experience was on PS4 and the first match I played I lost immediately to a headlock. I played more matches and the announcer kept burying me for not using enough moves, and my match got 2 stars or whatever weird star rating shit. I know a lot of people love those games but honestly it's just not for me.
