The spirit of enterprise left America a long time ago.
The British marks simply did what American marks never thought of doing: mainstream news videos focusing entirely on wrestling.
American marks got deep into the shoot interviews but the guys who do those would only sell through DVD.
And when those guys like Sean Oliver did that, Youtube didn't make enough money by comparison. It does now with all the sponsor deals you can get, and it's way less hassle than shipping DVDs or Blu-rays.
Not the case in 2010.
Add to that the fact that 2010s wrestling post-Punk was the absolute shits for a lot of fans, and the incentive to make summary content wasn't there... except in Britain where due to the dead scene, there was nothing else but the WWE to consume except New Japan.
Did lead to embarrassments though. They kayfabed outrage about Ellsworth winning the women's first MITB match for Carmella so the story wasn't going to continue, and the WWE pulled back and acted like it never happened.
That means we never got to see Nia Jax sit on Ellsworth or have any kind of fun like that happen. The marks were too upset with the heat it generated and got worked proper fucking hard, to let the story develop into Ellsworth being squashed by women, which was the goal.
Can't have a babyface cheer without a heel getting heat. They fucking failed basic wrestling consumption. Still, the only ones doing that kind of mark journo content on YouTube.
