Why were filler weeks back in the day so much more entertaining than they are now? I personally think tv matches are too long now. There is no reason for any of this meaningless garbage to play through the commercial break unless it's a main event angle.

The 3 hour part of the show.
They think the audience is only going to retain 5-6 big things from a show, and that's something you can't stretch out to 3 entire hours without it being fucking shit.
Going back to 2 hours would be a serious improvement for the entire show. It'll be a little less work on production and agents, and waaaay less stretched.
Promos can actually be done in a normal speaking pace then, instead of this long, slow, drawn out, annoying, way, that, they, do, now.
And matches don't have to have all your shit in it just to pad them out.
Matches could ostensibly be any good. Holy shit that's been a while, a good match.

The sad thing is that the three hours are for the advertisers to get their shit in, not for fans.
Two hours is the perfect length for a television wrestling show. As far as WWE goes, between Raw and Smackdown the better show is usually the one going around two hours.
